It's time to talk about an event we're all very, very excited for.

And we'll answer the question, what are all those umbrellas doing downtown? What are those things? What are all those umbrellas doing downtown? It's called the Umbrella Fringe, and it's sponsored and organized by the Kirkland Arts Center, or the Art Center, as we say back east.

So those are the initial installation, the tiny, the doll-sized umbrellas.

Now, where are those?

they are everywhere they're up and down market street at um book tree which is one of the venues in the art center which is another venue and then they're throughout the downtown

Mojave Land Miniature Golf and Art Center will formally break ground in 29 Palms tomorrow.

The non-profit project, under the fiscal sponsorship of AHA Projects, will offer 18 holes of artist-designed outdoor miniature golf, art activities, and a sculpture garden in its first phase of development.

To be built on city-owned land that was originally envisioned as a public park, Mojave Land will share a parking lot with Theater 29 and serve local and military families and tourists.

You've got music, you've got the visual arts, you've got theater, you kind of cover it all here.

Well, I feel that if we're a community art center to not have us capturing every form of art in all capacities for all people of interest and needs and perspectives, what's the point? Because you want something that everyone can relate to.

And some things are so much more valuable or impactful for one person than another.

So we have to make sure that we're able to offer as much as we can.

And then over time, the districts and the world realized how valuable it was and it expanded into having art classes and she created the curriculum with teachers.

And even through all of those decades and so many people that have these just praises and accolades of her, she was constantly learning and working on her craft every summer.

And she found a home with the Art Center and was able to have her work featured for many, many exhibits.

And then upon her passing many years ago, she actually gifted us with almost her entire collection and personal effects and works.
