Arthur Jafa

I could take, I took a Saturday night class with Jose Munoz, Jose's first class at NYU, Juanima Lubiano taught a class.

I mean, it was a really great, Arthur Jafa was sort of hanging out, Mancha Diawar.

I mean, there were just these phenomenal people, you know, who were kind of in and out of, you know, the spaces there.

It's so, it's, the Arthur Jafa thing is interesting, too, 'cause I just went to the Arthur Jafa, um, Richard Prince show at, at, at the Prada Foundation in Venice, and there is, like, a little zine there that they, you could take home too.

Yeah.

But, um, yeah, it just feels, there's just so much.

I mean, it's still on the Bowery, you know.

What's so fascinating about this Arthur Jafa show, it's his first American survey show, which really shocked me.

But considering the brazenness, the confrontational nature in a lot of his work, I think it's a really fascinating thing to be doing in the States right now.

I mean, for those that don't know.

I think he must be in his late 50s, maybe early 60s now.

... which I think is gonna be hugely important.

There's the largest Arthur Jafa survey to date at the New Museum, which is opening at the end of September.

Alison Knowles, the sort of like foundational Fluxus artist, is having a proper retrospective finally at the Grey Art Museum, which I think is gonna be fantastic.

If I have to pick two, though, and I know I've already rattled off four, but-

... film class at Studio Museum in Harlem.

Which of course links to Arthur Jafa, who was the cinematographer on that film, and so on, you know.

Yeah, people don't know this history.
