So let's get into those nominations.

Art Direction was from Anton Grott.

The Assistant Director nomination was for William H. Cannon.

Film Editing was for Ralph Dawson.

And now Don Luis is trying to get this money from his ex-father-in-law and was using a backdoor device in Faith, who is portrayed by Gail Sundergaard.

And the reason I'm so interested in talking to you about this movie is, we'll kind of dive right into this.

Normally we talk about the art direction, the assistant director, film editing, score, and we'll talk about those things.

But I think the most interesting thing about this movie is it received one acting nomination, and that's for Gail Sondergaard.

I mean, when you get, like, an up-close-and-personal look at some textures, yeah, you can see it's a PS3 game.

But I feel like that the art direction that they went on, it really...

I don't know.

I'm trying to look at it objectively and not through rose-tinted glasses, but it feels like a more modern game than what I would have thought a PS3 game to be.

I don't even know how to describe it.

Like high rise, just a very, you think it's a style or just the graphics itself?

Well, I think, I mean, in both cases, I think it's a matter of good art direction.

And I think for both platforms, we're talking like the Crisis Core port and the Master Collection.

Gray.

Art direction for Cedric Gibbons, Eddie Imazu, and Edwin B. Willis.

And director Robert Z. Leonard.

This was the nomination for best director.

Which it was also nominated for.

Yeah.

Was it? Yeah, Art Direction.

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Much like how this has an insane number of taglines.

This dude, under Art Direction alone, has more than 1,000 credits.

so next is art direction.

Uh, art direction, we have three nominations.

The Dark Angel, Goldwyn/United Artists, for Richard Day.

Can't believe they did a Buffy spinoff so early.

Nor will we.

I'm sure we're keeping that in.

And the winner for art direction was The Dark Angel for Richard Day.

And it was a running time of 80 to 81 minutes and was produced by Jack Warner and distributed by Warner Brothers Pictures.

And the film received two nominations at the Fourth Academy Awards for Best Art Direction and Best Cinematography.

They were just nominations.

It did not win either one, which we'll talk about later.

So talking up, you know, not just Barrymore himself and his acting, but also the costume and the makeup that went into making him this rather hideous figure throughout most of the film.

So, I mean, but it did get some love for art direction and cinematography with Anton Groth, right, is the art director.

Yes.

Best Picture, Best Actor Supporting, Best Actress Supporting, Screenplay, Art Direction.

He wasn't nominated for Best Director.

Wow.

Best Actress in Supporting Role, Kathleen Quinlan.

Best Screenplay, you know, adapted, nominated.

Best Art Direction, adapt, uh, adapted, nominated.

Best Film Editing, won.

[laughs] And The Exorcist wasn't done there, was it, Matt? Nope.

At the 46th Academy Awards, it landed 10 nominations, Picture, Director, Actress for Bursten, Supporting Actor for Miller, Supporting Actress for Blair, Adapted Screenplay, Sound, Cinematography, Film Editing, and Art Direction, and crucially, this was the first ever horror film to be nominated for Best Picture.
