For me, the story of Harry Kane in those early years, in those struggling years, moving around the lower divisions, being released by the Arsenal Academy, questioning his own ability, having to find some sort of inner strength.
Jake HumphreyHOST
5:51
That to me is almost a more exciting element actually of the Harry Kane story than becoming England's great, becoming a Tottenham great, becoming a world great, becoming world-class, winning the Ballon d'Or.
Jake HumphreyHOST
6:02

I live with my family in a town called Stockfold, which is where I played grassroots football before joining the Arsenal Academy at the age of seven.
speaker_5NARRATOR
32:33
I played with the boys at Stockfold Juniors Football Club, which definitely helped prepare me for the physicality required to play at centre-back.
speaker_5NARRATOR
32:40
There weren't really any other girls playing when I started at the age of five, so it's incredible to see how the game has grown in little over a decade.
James Lawrence AllcottHOST
51:59
So that kind of, the continuation of that is important.
James Lawrence AllcottHOST
52:02

James Lawrence AllcottHOST

Max Daumann is having a kind of interesting, obviously had that sending off and he's sort of, he's going to have to acclimatise and it's going to be bumpy at times, isn't it? But obviously he'll be fine.
Jimmy SmithHOST
50:31
Yeah.
Jimmy SmithHOST
50:31
And then what's the chances of actually falling on it when you're scoring to equalise? John says, yeah, we had McGuinness out of the Arsenal Academy and he helped develop him into a senior player.
Jimmy SmithHOST
50:40
I like McGuinness, but we couldn't reject the fee that we got offered.
Jimmy SmithHOST

Lamiyama has always also been the chosen one.
Startman StannaHOST
14:05
but Harry Kane was never the chosen one Harry Kane got into he was in one of the academies at the youth level he entered at age six he went into the Arsenal academy at age eight after a year he was released for being too chubby and not athletic enough so he was released so he went back to I think Ridgeway yeah Ridgeway where he was before he came to Arsenal then he went for a trial at Spurs they rejected him at Thornham Hotspur so at Ridgeway they played another trial against Thornham Hotspur then he did well then Thornham Hotspur actually signed him after rejecting him initially so that is where his career started he was in the academy in the youth systems He was there for a while and then around age 16, that is where he signed his first scholarship deal.
Startman StannaHOST
15:05
in the 2009-2010 season that is when he made his first appearance on the bench he didn't even start, he made two appearances on the bench in the 2009-2010 season 2011 was when an iconic photo was taken between himself, David Beckham and then his current wife who was a childhood friend of his at the time there's a very popular picture then that time David Beckham was doing an opening for his own academy that was around 2005 and then he took that photo with them not knowing he was about to get to a stage in his life where he would overtake David Beckham and become England's all-time top scorer, England's greatest ever player and then it took off after 2009-2010 era he went on loan his first loan was Leighton Orient He scored a couple of goals when they were in the league, one at a time.
Graeme SpiceHOST
7:28
Just looking at his, you know, his early career, obviously he started, I think it was Chinkford, I think he played, or Ridgeway Rovers.
Graeme SpiceHOST
7:36
And then he had a year at Arsenal Academy at a very young age and then at Watford and then he signed for Tottenham.
Graeme SpiceHOST
7:44
So for that period, he was at Tottenham.
Graeme SpiceHOST
7:46
When he got to the age where he could play men's football, he was alone at Lake Norwich, then Millwall, then Norwich, then
AndyGUEST
24:56
Yeah, in an ideal world, we'd have Zach Swanson at right-back and then Jadon Magoma at left-back.
AndyGUEST
25:01
So Swanson came through Arsenal Academy, but he's been with us for five or six years now.
AndyGUEST
25:05
And then Magoma, the Brentford loanee.
AndyGUEST
25:08

It's just a reward for just the graft, you know, and also the humility that he, it's not fake humility that he shows.
