Around the World in a Day

Yep, 1982's and 1999, four times platinum.

1985's Around the World in a Day is two times platinum.

Ooh.

And, uh, I know the much maligned Batman soundtrack is also two times platinum.

Oh, okay

... which is on Around the World in a Day by Prince.

I was hoping that, uh, Ross Trent had put out a full album.

Ba-da-ding-ding-ding-ding, whoa.

My

favorite is Beyond a Shadow of a Doubt, Around the World in a Day.

Oh, wow.

That is a wild album and such a left field turn for Purple Rain.

Put his spirituality and his religious beliefs out there.

And you didn't necessarily even realize he was explaining this stuff to you, right? Like Purple Rain is full of stuff like that.

So it was 1999, but never so overtly as on Around the World in a Day.

I just thought that was super cool.

The concept was to take a song from each decade that he performed and and just kind of show his progression.

The problem is with that approach is that it was tough enough going year to year, more or less decade to decade, because you think of how drastically different Around the World in a Day was from Purple Rain and then how different Parade was from Around the World in the Day, and then how different Sign of the Times was from Parade.

It's insane.

You can't even go album to album and maintain any type of continuity.

Don't touch it.

Um, so I understand how protective they are, but y'all also have to understand too, that even as they start to do some more releases, which there are more releases coming this year, matter of fact, 31, 21 is going to be coming out before the end of the year.

So, and there's going to be stuff on there that are not, it's not going to be situated like around the world in a day.

According to an interview that I saw that, uh, Londell had mentioned, uh, they had talked about around the world in a day, uh, I mean, sorry, they talked about 3121 and that there were things on there that people had not heard.

I listen to two and almost three more Prince records.

I listen to Around the World in a Day, which rules.

Parade, which is music from Under the Cherry Moon, a movie Prince directed.

It's okay.

Shit.

Uh, Around the World in a Day, uh, spent 45 weeks on the chart.

It peaked at number one.

Uh, The Very Best of Prince, a greatest hits album, sorry Ryan, 68 weeks on the chart.
