Army of the Dead

Yeah.

And Army of the Dead.

Yeah.

I mean, this movie looks... visually fine, but morally reprehensible, I think.

So they cut me off.

But it's so tough because, so the last, we're spending a lot of time on Zack Snyder, but I just, we don't talk about him often because we don't like his movies very much.

But the last four movies, including the last photograph, were Army of the Dead, rebel moon part one rebel moon part two those are all original films by him produced by netflix which means yeah there was no one saying you can't do that and you brought this up with with rebel moon because he's like well i've got the director's r-rated director's cut coming and you were like no one's making you not put no one stopped you yeah like so like almost like studio interference is the best thing that could ever happen to him as a filmmaker.

And it still makes his movies like not very good.

If I had a minor criticism, the film does flirt a bit with becoming almost a gross-out Die Hard towards the end as Brian starts to resemble a less macho John McClane, almost becoming more of an action hero.

But gratefully, Krieger's screenplay, which he co-wrote with Shay Hatten, Shay Hatten, who has written the last three John Wick movies, including previous episode Ballerina, Army of the Dead, all solid films, he mostly subverts those action tropes, always with a layer of self-aware humor to keep the overall tone consistently batshit.

And make no mistake, even beyond a plethora of effective gross-out effects, this film is very well-crafted all around, thanks to some genuinely inventive camera work from veteran DP Darius Wolski, who's worked on The Martian, Dark City, and previous episode Crimson Tide, and a propulsive Carpenter-like synth score from the up-and-coming Holiday Brothers, who also composed the music for last year's Weapons, previous episode.

Liked that movie, too.

Shea Hatton wrote Zack Snyder's two masterpieces, Rebel Moon Part 1 and Part 2.

And he also wrote Army of the Dead and Army of Thieves, if I'm not mistaken.

So let's

be very much grateful that this film doesn't have much writing.

Recently offered an encouraging update on the project, confirming the development is moving forward and teasing his potential directing involvement.

The potential Netflix series would also continue Snyder's relationship with the streaming service following projects including Army of the Dead and Rebel Moon Films.

so yeah i think it's leaning towards being a series which is probably good

kind of a trip because the uh like netflix has not had a lot of faith in in zack snyder just because army of the dead and rebel moon did not do well on the stream but they did have faith with him leading into that like they gave him franchises to handle did they get well received Not really.

So what I feel like is going to happen here is Warner Brothers is probably bankrolling everything because this is a Warner Brothers property.

Warner Brothers is probably bankrolling the whole thing and then shipping it over to Netflix.

Rebel Moon and

exist.

It's funny as well because we essentially got to see Zack Snyder do Star Wars in Rebel Moon.
