He gave a wonderful speech about his joy for art, and the joint curators also gave lovely speeches about the opportunity to work and connect with him as an outsider voice to the industry.

While all this was going on, ARMY successfully voted BTS as a winner for three awards at the VMAs, or Video Music Awards.

BTS posted thank yous on social media.

Jimin also released a new dance video on his brand-new TikTok account.

RM then tweets a selfie looking aghast.

They have a fan meeting on this day, and Jimin tweets a selfie with RM right before it starts.

This is a small fan meeting in which BTS read letters they wrote to ARMY.

i loved to see this i love that they got these incredible awards and they weren't even there they're on their tour in south america and And I just I mean, BTS representing here, you know, like ARMY representing for BTS.

And I really love that they got best group also.

They were getting on and like mispronouncing Jungkook's name and basically like majorly disrespecting BTS themselves and ARMY as fans and disregarding us as a fandom or as like like having legitimate music taste or, you know, really really i think degrading bts and the fandom you know and obviously we army all saw that and uh started to like what all in their comment section and whatever and the main guy that did that like posted some apology video on like instagram you know like trying to take back what he said but it's already like too late like it was incredibly racist and disheartening comments to hear um

And it's like, oh, snap.

Clearly wasn't thinking that, like, oh, ARMY's about to be in, like, ARMY's about to be in.

Everything that we said is valid.

And then this also goes back to, like, their, like, you know, that line between what they do privately.

Maybe you're new and you're like, yo, this era.

Because I felt like, I mean, this is an era, sure, but they've had eras.

I feel bad for ARMY who missed these other really critical, important moments before this.

But also now having met them, I kind of get that a little more.

And That's the difference between ARMY that sees from the audience and what they allow to be shown backstage.

And some of it's just heartbreaking.

And he was very emotional, not because of the pain or what he was going through, but that he was going to

let ARMY down.

And then that led us to something else and something else.

Our curiosity, and this is for other ARMYs as well, became education.

Not because BTS were trying to teach us an international class about this.

They were simply seven Korean men living their lives and sharing parts of themselves with ARMY.

The relative quietness of the first few months of the year are forgotten until December 14th, where, after they win Artist of the Year award for the third time at the AMAs, many of the members start crying, and Jin thanks them in his speech for holding each other tight and continuing, even though at the beginning of the year they talked about disbanding.

And that's when a few ARMY, myself included, brought their attention back to the beginning of the year, with the questions of who, what, where, why, when, and how.

BTS were tight-lipped about it for several years, though not all of them.

With the cat partially out of the bag, a log Jimin recorded in April 2018 gets released finally in February of 2019.

Back to what I recorded before.

During January, when it seems the real danger was, RM has only mentioned that the speech he gave at the Golden Disc Awards when winning the Daesang was what he wanted to say to the members at that time, even though he addressed his speech to ARMY.

In the speech, he mentioned that it is time to try to find or receive light.
