Armin Mueller-Stahl

Ugh.

Wait, wait till we talk about the Armin Mueller-Stahl interview for, uh-

That, that literally editing that interview-

It was-

Yeah, that, that is actually one of the most heart-wrenching and memorable interviews I've done, like, maybe ever, and I've interviewed-

Yeah

... thousands of guests, including Armin Mueller-Stahl.

He actually very early in my career, uh, at the American Cinematheque, he came for a screening of a wonderful film he starred in called Der Kino Erzhähler, I believe.

It came following his work as second unit director for 1998's Godzilla, directed by Roland Emmerich, who serves as producer here.

With production design by Blade and Mystery Men's Kirk Petruccelli and starring journeyman actor Craig Bierko alongside then newcomer Gretchen Mol, with Dennis Haysbert, Vincent D'Onofrio, and the great Armin Mueller-Stahl.

Today we are talking about The Thirteenth Floor.

[upbeat music] On the 13th floor of a corporate tower, a team of scientists have created a portal to a simulated universe.

It's 1999 in Los Angeles, or is it? Douglas Hall, played by Craig Bierko, works for a virtual reality company.

The company has constructed a simulation of 1930s Los Angeles.

The program is not ready for release, but Hall learns that his boss, Hannon Fuller, played by Armin Mueller-Stahl, has been playing the game already.

Fuller is murdered, and Hall becomes the prime suspect.

It's fantastic.

Armin Muller plays the taxi cab driver in that Rosie Perez Giancarlo Esposito scene and starts in L.A. with Jenna Rollins and Winona Ryder.

And then it goes to like Stockholm after that or Paris or what have you, then to New York.

And it's just, I don't know.
