Argent

I was thinking back to, uh, an interview I did with Russ Ballard.

And I don't know if that name sounds familiar to you, but he was the lead singer for Argent.

Hold Your Head Up.

Oh, yeah.

We just heard that.

Uh, "I Want You to Want Me", Ram Jam, "Black Betty", Golden Earring, "Radar Love", James Gang, "Funk # 49", Lynyrd Skynyrd, "Saturday Night Special", BTO, "Let It Ride", Argent, "Hold Your Head Up", Montrose, "Rock Candy." Damn good album here.

Blue Öyster Cult, "Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll." [chuckles] I gotta hear...

I don't know, I don't recognize that song.

And

it's by Argent.

Yes, it is.

and if it's bad don't let it get you down you can take Hold your head up.

I also gave him, you know, he, he said I needed to, he had N- New York Groove was a cover.

His song New York Groove was done by Russ Ballard of Argent, and he said, "I need another cover." So I suggested 2000 Man from the Stones.

Okay.

And that became, we recorded it at North Lake for Dynasty.

Yeah, yeah,

Argent, yeah.

Maybe we'll play it for our BDA.

Yeah, yeah, cool.

We're going to play.

God gave rock and roll to you by

Argent.

Won't we? Okay.

Ballard was already an established musician by the time Winning came along.

He had been a member of the British rock band Argent, best known for their 1972 hit Hold Your Head Up.

And if it's bad Don't let it get you down You can take it And if it hurts Don't let them see you cry You can make it Hold your head up

But Ballard was also becoming an extremely successful songwriter.
