Arcot Mission

So yeah, I mean, she, she really got the best of education, uh, that God provided.

Now, RCA's Arcot Mission in India at the same time proposed a hospital for women in Vellore, and they asked Ida to raise money for this endeavor.

Yeah, so that Arcot Mission was kind of, it began with Ida's grandparents.

So the mission was kind of whatever missionaries were there, and that grew, um, to be a group of other missionary families who joined them, but also partnering with the local leadership, the local Indian pastors and ministers, um, that were kind of in charge of running the hospitals, and schools, and church plants as those things began to pop up through the m- through the mission.

Um, and for the RCA, the goal of that mission was always to return the work to the hands of the locals, which is kind of one of our mission principles, uh, that we like to say.

We like to work missionaries out of a job.

Um, the goal is for the local leadership to end up owning those things, um, and to equip them well.

So eventually, the Arcot Mission of the RCA formed as the Church of South India, which is alive and thriving today.
