Archippus

Let me quote it quickly for sake of time.

It says, "Say unto Archippus that you take heed to the ministry that thou has obtained or received in the Lord that thou fulfill it." Paul was speaking to his son in the gospel and he says to say unto Archippus that you take heed.

The word take heed there means be attentive, be discerning, be careful, be intentional over the ministry that thou has received in the Lord.

Notice he never said the ministry you receive from the Lord.

Finish it.

And to a particular individual who may well have been the son of Philemon in Colossians 4, verse 17, he said to Archippus, take heed to the ministry which thou hast received in the Lord that thou fulfill it.

He says to this young minister, fulfill the time.

Notice he said that twice, once to the young Timothy and once to Archippus.

That this time when you need to begin to maximize your ministry to make the most time to redeem time.

Now, that brings us then into full scale of Acts chapter 20.

Colossians 4 and verse 17, let me quote it quickly for sake of time.

Paul, a prisoner of Jesus Christ, and Timothy, our brother, and Philemon, our dearly beloved and fellow laborer, And to our beloved Athia and Archippus, our fellow soldier, and to the church in thy house, grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Now I just pause.

Isn't that what everybody needs? Look at verse 3 again.

What does it mean that the church was in his house? So let me show you two or three things.

Go back to verse number one.

The Bible says Paul... prisoner of Jesus Christ, and Timothy, our brother, unto Philemon, our dearly beloved and fellow laborer, and to our beloved Ophia and Archippus, our fellow soldier.

Come down to the last two verses of the book, would you? Look at verse 23.

And it's Paul writing to the church at Colossae.

And he says, and say to Archippus, see that you fulfill the ministry that you have received in the Lord.

And I think I said this on the group text, but this is...

there are no throwaway verses of the Bible, but if there were, this would be a little bit of a, you know, like you get these openings and closings to some of these letters and you're like, yeah, I get it.

Like, uh, servant of God by the great, like it says all this stuff, but if you read that closely and the thing I love about this verse, it says, and say to Archippus, who was a, the way that I understand it, kind of like a, uh, like a helper of Paul's or a helper at the church in Colossae.

And, uh, I read this potentially the son of Philemon, which is probably a whole other, uh, maybe we can do that in part two of, of Bible caddy podcast.

But, um, he says, see that you fulfill the ministry that you have received in the Lord.

Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy, our brother, to Philemon, our dear friend and fellow worker.

Also to Apphia, our sister, and Archippus, our fellow soldier, and to the church that meets in your home, to the church that meets in your...

The church that meets at the local school, the church that meets at the fishing game, the church that meets at the park, the church that meets wherever you are, you can have church.

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

After this letter has been read to you, see that it's also read in the church of the Laodiceans and that you in turn read the letter from Laodicea.

Tell Archippus, see to it that you complete the ministry that you've received in the Lord.
