A
40:51Austin OermanHOST
His performance, certainly something to monitor down the stretch.
A
40:54Austin OermanHOST
And on the sneak, Archie Wilson averaging now 44.2 yards per punt.
A
40:58Austin OermanHOST
Was not very good early on.
A
41:00Austin OermanHOST
Does have his fair share down inside the 20.
A
41:03Austin OermanHOST
But I think from those two specialists, a little more consistency would go a long way.
A
41:07Austin OermanHOST
Archie Wilson did have that 60-yard field-flipping punt against Oregon that certainly helps to boost that number.
A
41:13Austin OermanHOST
Let's go ahead and go to break on that note.
A
41:15Austin OermanHOST
And we'll talk some Nebraska basketball.

Some downer field goals missed as well.
J
24:15Jack MitchellHOST
And then what happened with Archie Wilson.
J
24:17Jack MitchellHOST
And so...
J
24:18Jack MitchellHOST
I don't know.

N
4:08Nick HandleyHOST
I'm going to go with just a C on this one because, look, net punting has improved.
N
4:13Nick HandleyHOST
You're at 42.19. You've actually had some of the better games of Archie Wilson's career and his short career at Nebraska compared to last year when it comes to – career highs on certain punts.
N
4:26Nick HandleyHOST
He's exceeded 50 a few times.
N
4:29Nick HandleyHOST
He's got a few more inside the 10-yard line.
N
4:32Nick HandleyHOST
But you also look at just some of those operational issues, having a low snap that leads Archie Wilson to falling to a knee.
N
4:42Nick HandleyHOST
And what could have been, I mean, thank goodness for the defense holding Oregon to three points there.
N
4:47Nick HandleyHOST
That just can't happen.
J
5:56JusticePANELIST
some people could argue that that was the difference in between nebraska and oregon who won that game is those three points given up by a punter taking a knee when he's trying to feel the football those are little operational errors that simply cannot happen in powerful football and especially in the big ten in high leverage games so i look at that i look at the lack of a deep kicking game it just seems like operationally on special teams there's been a ton of errors there's not a lot of highs there's been a lot of low lights this season so They may, they may have a punt block on their resume.
Mitch Sherman Stops By to Talk Expectations: October 22nd Hour 2 Seg 3

Mitch Sherman of The Athletic with us here on Hanley & Hanson AM 590 WOW.
G
3:23Grant HansenHOST
Notice I'm not saying here that he's been amazing, that he's been an 8 out of 10, but I would offer, Mitch, that through the first half of the season, the most positive thing for Nebraska's special teams has been Archie Wilson.
G
3:37Grant HansenHOST
Would you agree?
M
3:38Mitch ShermanGUEST
Yeah.
Is Nebraska football falling into a trap set by talented Big Ten opponents?
C
18:08Connor HapperHOST
We were talking about hang times and, and where people are at in the field and making reads and stuff like that.
C
18:13Connor HapperHOST
I could see it when Archie Wilson goes back to punt the football, like, Where is he supposed to kick it? Which leg is he supposed to kick it with? What is he reading? How much time does he have? How much time does he need? Is the snap good? Is the snap bad? There's just so many different things.
C
18:27Connor HapperHOST
And yeah, the punter has to do some of that all the time.
C
18:30Connor HapperHOST
But I just feel like Archie's back there thinking a lot.
C
18:50Connor HapperHOST
You have to flip the field.
C
18:53Connor HapperHOST
You have to tilt the field in your direction.
C
18:57Connor HapperHOST
And, you know, coincidentally enough, Nebraska got a great punt from Archie Wilson or a punt that rolled for, for Archie Wilson in the time where it needed it the most.
C
19:04Connor HapperHOST
And they only after their three play drive in the fourth quarter, their one three play drive in the fourth quarter, they got his season long pot of 60 yards.
RAF 14 Preview: October 19th, 2026
N
7:58Nick WymanHOST
And Oregon played the long game and played the, you know, wait for Nebraska to find those woes.
N
8:02Nick WymanHOST
I mean, you saw on special teams on the punt where Archie Wilson's knee was down, marking there, you had a couple.
N
8:08Nick WymanHOST
turnovers in there.
N
8:11Nick WymanHOST
And then, you know, just settle for field goals.
Brian Christopherson Talks Nebraska-Oregon and Midseason Takeaways: October 20th Hour 3 Seg 2
G
11:31Grant HansenHOST
As much as he says, you know, they're one or two plays away from being a team that's, what, 7-0 and inside the top 10 with a couple of, well, one ranked win and another against a team that was the preseason national title favorite.
G
11:48Grant HansenHOST
like it's more like like 40 plays you know because how many times do we put a game down to one or two plays could have made the difference and you could probably pick like from Archie Wilson getting the low snap and taking the knee to any of the third and fourth down plays on that last drive or on the preceding drive that was a lengthy 17 drive yard or 17 play drive or whatever it's like there's like 20 plays over the course of a game that one or two of those goes Nebraska's way and they come out on top and so uh it's just to me a situation it's like everybody gotta be better because you point to make that play there the outcome becomes different
B
12:30Brian ChristophersonGUEST
yeah um and and like i say i think i don't think guys mind it like if this is a team that um I don't sense is going to be put off by anything that was said yesterday because it's already been said, you know, on Sunday and Monday.
B
12:45Brian ChristophersonGUEST
And so some of the analysis of the press conferences, it's almost accept what they're just said.
More Game Thoughts on Nebraska-Oregon: October 19th Hour 2 Seg 4
G
4:07Grant HansenHOST
And the guy that spurned you that was supposed to be, which was essentially the messianic figure of the last two years, is the guy that stabs you through the heart with a 20-play drive.
G
4:22Grant HansenHOST
I mean, even after the Archie Wilson punt that pinned him, you're thinking, they got to go the length of the field here.
G
4:28Grant HansenHOST
You feel pretty good about the way this defense is played.
G
4:31Grant HansenHOST
And they dink and dunk and paper cut your way down the field and kill you with 30 seconds to go.
Did Nebraska Football lose to Oregon because of its players or coaches? - Hour 2, 10/19/26
A
24:47Austin OermanHOST
Now, some context behind that number.
A
24:50Austin OermanHOST
One of those carries that Nebraska's listed at among its 33 that went for a loss of 15 yards was the Archie Wilson kneel down.
A
24:59Austin OermanHOST
The low snap that he had to recover from the turf that he put his knee on the ground for that counts as a carry for the team and negative 15 yards.
A
25:08Austin OermanHOST
You take that carry off the board.

Well, it's like, well, he's not out there making the long snap, right.
J
69:55Jay MooreGUEST
And snapping into dirt, causing, causing Archie Wilson have to take a knee on that.
J
69:58Jay MooreGUEST
That, miss blocks, miss tackles, those aren't the coach's faults.
J
70:07Jay MooreGUEST
Players have to perform, they have to go out and execute.
