Welcome to Dialectic episode 61 with Josh Miller.

Josh is the co-founder and CEO of The Browser Company, which makes Dia and formerly Arc.

They were acquired by Atlassian a year ago, and I wanted to sit down and have a long conversation with Josh about the arc of his career, his influences, the history of browser, and what he's thinking about now, how software is going to change, and what the internet computer of the future might look like.

Josh is wise and incredibly energizing, and he has been someone who has been very helpful to me over the years.

So really, they saw Chrome as this big search box at the top.

And anything that trade off against those metrics as someone that going back to metrics knew they'd be optimizing for metrics said, if we can build a browser that is better and it monetizes or is better at something that is not search and it's decoupled from search as a business model, they're not gonna- Shut it down.

I mean, actually a week ago, they announced a vertical sidebar with favorites that looks identical to Arc.
