Five hundred years later, the kingdoms of the world are clearly defined.

The kingdom of the Hyborians, Aquilonia, Nemedia, Brythunia, Hyperborea, Koth, Ophir, Argos, Corinthia, and one known as the Border Kingdom, dominate the western world.

Zamora lies to the east, and Zingara to the southwest of these kingdoms, people alike in darkness of complexion and exotic habits, but otherwise unrelated.

Far to the south sleeps Stygia, untouched by foreign invasion, but the peoples of Shem have exchanged the Stygian yoke for the less galling one of Koth.

The dusky masters have been driven south of the great river Styx, Nilus, or Nile, which, flowing north from the shadowy hinterlands, turns almost at right angles and flows almost due west through the pastoral meadowlands of Shem to empty into the great sea.

North of Aquilonia, the westernmost Hyborian kingdom, are the Cimmerians, ferocious savages untamed by the invaders, but advancing rapidly because of contact with them.

They are the descendants of the Atlanteans, now progressing more steadily than their old enemies the Picts, who dwell in the wilderness west of Aquilonia.

Another five centuries and the Hybori people are the possessors of a civilization so virile that contact with it virtually snatched out of the wallow of savagery such tribes as it touched.

So last... year in October we released a special issue it was issue 25 of the Conan series it's called the Nomad and it's my first King Conan story so Conan in his elder years when he's the king of Aquilonia and this mysterious stranger arrives in the kingdom offering Conan a mysterious gift if he can complete a test and it's got this very kind of classic fable structure the artwork is jaw-dropping Alex Worley who normally does just cover artwork And he does full oil paintings.

He painted every page of the story.

It took him almost a year in between his other projects.

I mean, the character himself, he's got so many cool evolutions.

You know, the young character who thinks he's kind of unstoppable when he's the thief and he's brash and got such ego and kind of does it with might and verve.

And then as he gets older and he becomes the leader of men and realizes... that the civilized world does have its charms in its own way, and then eventually being pulled into becoming the king of Aquilonia, this barbarian king who is not part of that country, but now will lead them despite everything.

so conan being this massive licensed property what are the rules like you know don't you know dealing with a licensed property like conan you know are there things like do they give you carte blanche are they like well you can do this but don't you even think about doing xyz
