Frederic LambertHOST
50:32
I have one quickie before we jump into the comments.
Frederic LambertHOST
50:34
Uh, quick update on Aptera.
Frederic LambertHOST
50:36
We like to update you on Aptera every now and again.
Frederic LambertHOST
50:38
Um, as they, they try to get to production.
Frederic LambertHOST
50:41
They, they keep saying that they want to get to production by the end of 2026, uh, but it, it kept looking like they needed more money.
Frederic LambertHOST
50:47
Uh, last month they announced their, their partnership with Launch Design, which is a, a company that helps with manufacturing.
Frederic LambertHOST
50:54
They basically design, you know, production lines for other companies on specific products, including vehicles.
Frederic LambertHOST
51:00
Aptera partner with them.
Robert LlewellynHOST
32:47
Lucid, who I've kind of had some dealings with, seem to be still making cars.
Robert LlewellynHOST
32:53
The ones I'm hoping that will work is Aptera.
Robert LlewellynHOST
32:58
I don't know if you've come across them, but it's an amazing machine.
Robert LlewellynHOST
33:01
I can't see it being a big seller.
MikeHOST
60:08
I think that's going to be the tough part is with all...
MikeHOST
60:10
Like, for Aptera, they're trying to go high and fast with production.
DrewHOST
60:15
Not fast enough.
DrewHOST
60:16
Same with Slate.

31 MINS LATER

DrewHOST
90:49
I know.
DrewHOST
90:50
That's what I wanted! All the startups, I guess, I'm pumped for.
DrewHOST
90:54
Aptera, of course.
MikeHOST
90:55
Whenever they come out with their vehicle.
DrewHOST
57:55
you're sending me like no not that's sending you but the production parts are being made and we just when we show them to the public we want it to be pretty we don't want little smartphone shots to be like hey guys look here's your part so i'm gonna go out there with a that camera and get some good shots uh and everybody can see what i just showed you but yeah it's just
MikeGUEST
58:15
i can't wait for other people to see it i think that's gonna be the tough part is with all like For Aptera, they're trying to go high and fast
DrewHOST
58:23
with production.
DrewHOST
58:23
Not fast enough.

29 MINS LATER

DrewHOST
86:55
I know.
DrewHOST
86:55
That's what I wanted! All the startups, I guess, I'm pumped for.
DrewHOST
86:59
Aptera, of course.
MikeGUEST
87:01
Whenever they come out with their vehicle.
Seth WeintraubHOST
47:44
If the, you know, outcome could have been different.
Seth WeintraubHOST
47:47
You know, we talk about another three-wheeled vehicle, the Aptera, quite a bit.
Seth WeintraubHOST
47:52
They're having some manufacturing issues.
Seth WeintraubHOST
47:56
Pickups and they're kind of slow to roll out as well.

8 MINS LATER

Micah TollHOST
55:35
But of the few that I have, I can more or less agree with that trend that the higher power bikes tend to need replacement batteries more quickly.
Seth WeintraubHOST
55:44
Yep.
Seth WeintraubHOST
55:46
Michael says, you guys misunderstood me a couple of weeks ago about having more hope for the Aptera than the Also.
Seth WeintraubHOST
55:51
I think the Also is more likely to come out and it's cool, but I'd like to own an Aptera.
Dagogo AltraideHOST
13:20
They resorted to crowdfunding to help their project, but by February 2023, this had also failed and the plans to manufacture were cancelled.
Dagogo AltraideHOST
13:30
Aptera is another effort in this space, although they're a little more unconventional.
Dagogo AltraideHOST
13:34
What they're planning is a two-seater, three-wheeled vehicle.
Dagogo AltraideHOST
13:37
The range is an impressive 1,000 miles or 1,600 kilometres.
Frederic LambertHOST
22:36
You have also a 370-watt solar system built into the glass roof.
Frederic LambertHOST
22:41
Uh, nothing crazy, but it, they claim it adds 30 kilometers of range because, again, much like Aptera, it's a super efficiency more than the actual solar usage that, um, result in this, this capacity to add range.
Frederic LambertHOST
22:54
Um, they, they have a bring your own device approach [laughs] to the interior, so you bring a, you know, a iPad or, or, or, or your phone.
Frederic LambertHOST
23:02
You put that in, and that's the actual navigation and audio system.

26 MINS LATER

Seth WeintraubHOST
48:35
Dean says: I really like the VW Mission efficiency, but it's likely just a demo exercise.
Seth WeintraubHOST
48:39
The XL1 cost VW over a billion, and a few that sold cost over $150,000.
Seth WeintraubHOST
48:45
But is it good promotion for the Aptera? I, I mean, I, I would imagine that VW learn-- takes some of the learnings from the Mission stuff and puts them in their vehicles, and it's also a g- you know, a great promotional tool, but a billion dollars is crazy.
Frederic LambertHOST
49:01
crazy.Well, and but the same thing probably happened with the XL1 too, where like I, I don't, I don't think they ever planned to make money, uh, on it.
Kim JavaHOST
26:01
I think it looks so cool.
Kim JavaHOST
26:03
It reminds me a little bit of Aptera, the way that the rear wheels are kind of covered up.
Kim JavaHOST
26:08
And I don't know.
Kim JavaHOST
26:09
It's different.
PJHOST
26:37
And of course, the design has been modified for that XL1 design to give it this teardrop shape and maximize its efficiency.
PJHOST
26:43
But they have put solar panels.
PJHOST
26:45
They've got a 370 watt solar panels on the roof to your Aptera point, gives it about 30 kilometers of range or 19 additional extra miles of range as well.
PJHOST
26:54
But no center screen.
Ed SanchezHOST
17:26
Let me Google it.
Ed SanchezHOST
17:27
It was kind of not quite, but almost kind of like an Aptera looking.
Ed SanchezHOST
17:32
It was like a real hyper sleek teardrop shape thing.
Ed SanchezHOST
17:36
Yeah.
Ed SanchezHOST
20:00
And it set some records.
Ed SanchezHOST
20:01
I don't know.
Ed SanchezHOST
20:03
uh long story short uh drag coefficient of 0.158 um they are claiming the most aerodynamic road legal vehicle ever built i guess until aptera if and when it makes it to production because i believe um i'll have to go back and look but i kind of looked this up um I think Aptera did send one of their prototypes to Pininfarina.
Ed SanchezHOST
20:33
And I think, I want to say they got back a 0.14 drag coefficient.
