Wesley HilliardHOST
52:47
So to play it safe, I'm gonna go ahead and do the one-year lease, the Apple Upgrade Program.
Wesley HilliardHOST
52:54
That is gonna be $107 per month, and then I still have to get AppleCare on top of that.
Wesley HilliardHOST
53:00
Uh, so keeping-
William GallagherHOST
53:01
Mm
Mark MacDonaldHOST
51:28
Right.
Mark MacDonaldHOST
51:28
Plus AppleCare, plus-
John RicciardiHOST
51:29
Although I have always been a 256 gigger, so I'm fine-
Gabe De LeonHOST
51:32
Oh, okay
John RicciardiHOST
51:33
But yeah, it's expensive.
John RicciardiHOST
51:35
[laughs]
Mark MacDonaldHOST
51:35
And it's gonna, yeah, throw on AppleCare, throw on...
Mark MacDonaldHOST
51:37
I mean, even that, you want to fucking insure the shit out of that thing-
Ken RayHOST
6:50
Remember the part at the start about getting lost in the weeds? Yeah, today we go weeding.
Ken RayHOST
6:58
Mentioned during Wednesday's event, a piece from MacRumors says AppleCareOneFamily lets customers in the U.S. extend AppleCare coverage... to every eligible device across an Apple family sharing group of up to six people for one fixed monthly price.
Ken RayHOST
7:14
The program costs $49.99 per month and includes all the same benefits as AppleCare+, such as coverage for accidental damage like drops and spills, battery replacement service, and priority support from Apple experts.
Ken RayHOST
7:29
As our man Alfredo pointed out...
Ken RayHOST
7:32
It also includes theft and loss protection for eligible iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch models and allows six total claims per year across the group.
Jess KellyHOST
1:12
I'm sure you've heard a lot of people giving out about the price, particularly the dedicated Apple fans who have been loyal to the brand For many years, waiting with bated breath for this type of innovation from the company.
Jess KellyHOST
1:26
And some of them are saying that they're just priced out of it, starting in around the two grand mark, right up to four and a bit grand if you want to get the two terabytes of storage plus AppleCare.
Jess KellyHOST
1:39
which I personally, now I don't have the money to get one, but if I did have the money to get one, I'd be getting the AppleCare Plus because you want to have the protection and the peace of mind that if something happens to the screen, you can get it repaired and it's not going to cost you an arm and a leg.
Jess KellyHOST
1:55
So it's very expensive.
Jess KellyHOST
1:57
And I would love to know your thoughts.
Aaron DelpGUEST
44:57
I don't think my youngest is the target audience.
Brandon WhichardHOST
45:02
I think your youngest is the target for AppleCare.
Brandon WhichardHOST
45:04
I think AppleCare at max insurance.
Brandon WhichardHOST
45:06
Oh, we have it
Aaron DelpGUEST
45:06
on
Mark HalperinHOST
47:26
I'm not sure, Maddie, you guys are going to nominate someone who can't.
Mark HalperinHOST
47:29
Lastly, President Trump back on Truth Social today, still offering me two new iPhones, 5,000 bucks with enough for the AppleCare.
Mark HalperinHOST
47:41
On Truth Social, the president once again saying all adults are going to be given the Trump dividend Because, well, we deserve it.
Mark HalperinHOST
47:47
And that's never going to happen, by the way, Jack.
Jim DalrympleHOST
73:39
But then I realized I did have a lot of first gen products, you know, that I reviewed and stuff.
Jim DalrympleHOST
73:45
So the other thing that I'm looking at is buying the AppleCare plan for it, which I never do as well, never buy that.
Jim DalrympleHOST
73:53
But just in case the first gen has some problems, I just want some...
Jim DalrympleHOST
73:59
some backup there so
Casey LissHOST
52:31
You get $1,200 off if you trade a 14 or newer.
Casey LissHOST
52:34
Uh, they in- introduced briefly Care+ Family, so Apple Care+ Family, so you can have, uh, family members on the same plan.
Casey LissHOST
52:41
I think this would have solved a lot of your problems, right, John?
John SiracusaHOST
52:43
Well, I have a section on that.
John SiracusaHOST
52:44
I didn't realize you had that up there, but I had a section on it lower.
John SiracusaHOST
52:46
So here's the deal with Apple Care+ Family.
John SiracusaHOST
52:49
So what they say on their apple.com/applecare page is, they say, "Cover up to three devices with Apple Care+ Individual," which is the new name of what was previously just called Apple Care+.
John SiracusaHOST
52:57
So now it's Apple Care+ Individual.
Tom MerrittHOST
42:41
Uh, or a more minimal case for $79.
Tom MerrittHOST
42:44
And Apple now offers a family plan for AppleCare in the US for up to six family members.
Sarah LaneHOST
42:49
members.Max appears to be the new word for flagship phones.
Sarah LaneHOST
42:54
Honor announced the new Max version of the Honor Magic 9 Pro, and Vivo announced the Vivo X500 Pro Max with a 17x external lens, launching in China on September 21st.
Devon DundeeGUEST
59:14
And there's not a ton of detail about it yet because it's, I don't think it comes out until next week.
Devon DundeeGUEST
59:20
But I'm an AppleCare1 subscriber because I had AppleCare on my Vision Pro and it was cheaper to go to AppleCare1 for three devices than to continue to carry AppleCare Plus on my Vision Pro.
Devon DundeeGUEST
59:33
But yeah, I'm excited about, I don't know how many people will be subscribing to the family plan.
Devon DundeeGUEST
59:37
It's fantastic.
Devon DundeeGUEST
59:53
So I don't know if they're, there probably is a hard limit at some point, but they're not saying it's, you know, limited to three or three per person or whatever.
Devon DundeeGUEST
60:00
They're just saying it just grabs everything, which is cool.
D. Griffin JonesHOST
60:03
probably should look at that because i have a vision pro as well that i don't want to be destroyed and i actually use it actively it doesn't just sit in a drawer all the time so there is like a minimal risk of you know i i'm always so scared of like my dogs getting hyper and like jumping off the couch and like pulling the cable with them and it tumbling to the ground so i probably should just get apple care one or family plan or whatever is cheaper Because my Mac Mini also isn't protected by AppleCare.
D. Griffin JonesHOST
60:28
It's just my iPhone.
