And a lot of these groups, like, um, the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints under Warren Jeffs, your audience probably knows who that is from the Netflix documentary "Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey." Um, the Kingston Group or the Davis County Quorum of the Apostolic United Brethren, these people use these boys, um, for labor trafficking.

They own legitimate companies and corporations, general contractors who build a lot of your big box retailers, like your Costcos, your Sam's Clubs, your Walmart Supercenters.

That's, that's where they're getting free labor from, these children.

I mean, I feel like there has to be more going on here than the story as it's typically told, but we really don't have time to get into the nuances of Mormon geopolitics, at least today.

So anyways, the story goes that in nineteen seventy-six, Ervil moves on from just having a weird blood feud with his brothers and sends an extortion letter to Rulon C. Allred, a leader of a relatively huge Mormon offshoot with thousands of followers called the Apostolic United Brethren.

Now, this is particularly batshit because the Apostolic United Brethren is much bigger than his brother's little group and tied into the larger Mormon ecosystem in a way neither of their offshoots were.

When Allred gets these extortion letters demanding tithing and land, he understandably assumes this is the raving of a lunatic and ignores it.

But this underestimation would unfortunately cost him his life.
