Apollo Brown

Um, but the first time that I noticed drums were different, and in prepping for our conversation today and just analyzing what Muggz said, was a former label mate of yours, the Apollo Brown, uh, Planet Asia Anchovies album.

Hmm.

I think that was the first one of the several they did, and I remember when that came out 10 years ago, I was with Justin Hunt, a mutual friend of you and I, and some folks in New York, and they were like, "Man, the drums are just, just different here."

Um, and then in, in New York there was a show called Beat Society where they would just have different underground producers come up and play their beats.

But it would be, like, people like Statik Selektah and Apollo Brown and Illmind, and all these people that were, like, notable and kinda working with industry, but also it wasn't a competition, it was just them playing beats.

And I was like, I always liked that format, and when I came out to Portland, um, there was nothing like that.

And I remember t- I met, um, Derek, my, the, who helped found A Beat Happening.
