Antwerp Six

Those six designers had quite difficult names for the international press.

So those international journalists were like, excuse me, come again? How do you spell that? And a journalist said, you know what? I'm just going to call you the Antwerp Six.

And that took on, and it was like a label.

And in the beginning, they were like, okay, let's do that.

Let's go on the Antwerp Six wave.

And once they know us, we all go our own way because they're very different, very individualistic.

Usually when you hear something like the Antwerp Six, that's people who got arrested or something.

Yeah, but this was like, for the city of Antwerp, it's gold.

She's Belgian, but she's been showing in Paris for a few seasons.

Yeah, she went to the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, which its alumni includes, of course, the Antwerp Six, but also Martin Margiela, Demna, Raf, Glenn Martens.

She started her label only two years ago in 2024, which is crazy.

I think she's a very original thinker.

If you follow fashion at all, then you're familiar with Van Noten and his work.

Originally part of the famed Antwerp Six collective in the early '80s, he went on to reach nearly every success a designer or creative can have.

He won the International Designer of the Year from the CFDA in 2008.

In 2014, the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris did a show devoted to him.

That, that's something that I really appreciate about him, that it's not only the image, the vision, but on the o- the product is impeccable.

Um, Antwerp is also the home of, uh, the so-called Antwerp Six, a group of legendary fashion designers, uh, like Marina Yee, Dries Van Noten, uh, Walter Van Beirendonck, uh, and the Mühlmeister, and it's probably one of the most important movements in fashion of, of the last century.

Um, how did you, um, decide to remain like in Antwerp and, and to build up your brand in Antwerp and not, not in another city like Paris or Milan?

Yeah, that's a good question because actually before I started up my brand, I lived in, uh, I lived in Oslo for a while.
