So first of all, it's like, I understand chronotypes.

So a chronotype is...

There are four types that all humanity fits into, and essentially it's a it's a wave of the peaks and valleys of your energy and alertness over a 24 hour period.

The reason why there are four is because we couldn't all slept at the same time back in the day because, you know, there's a saber tooth tiger or Or a hippo or something coming or just some other bad humans.

You need to be able to learn.

And then, you know, are you sometimes acting that out through your music? You know, some, you know, so tell me, show me a little bit of the influence from one to the other.

Absolutely.

And so the roots of that for me come from my grandmother.

So when I was a kid in Trinidad, she raised me and gave me many beautiful gifts.

But the two sort of that stuck the most was singing, which she would do all the time, you know, morning, noon and night, happy, sad.

She would always have a song.

And Reading and writing, which she taught me how to read because her eyes were bad and she would always love to read the King James Bible on the veranda.

And then as a storyteller, how do you balance vulnerability with your storytelling?

What inspired you to write this novel about the Black Cherokee?

You know, I feel like First of all, I appreciate the real writer tag, but, you know, I love writing and reading of all varieties, and so I'm definitely not one of those that's snobby about it.

I feel writers get asked the question, where did your idea come from, as if it pops up fully formed and it's a straight line between your intention and what they get on the shelf.

which is not how it works.

I more think of it like falling in love, David.

Like, you know, if you're to ask, why did you, why do you love this person? You know, we all have very structured reasons, but actually we know it was a moment.

And so for you, what was the story in this backdrop?
