That's Alan Quinlan and Fiona Hayes there talking to me about tonight's game.
Rory O'HaganHOST
9:24
Of course, last weekend was really emotional with all the tributes to Anthony Foley being paid to him before the game.
Rory O'HaganHOST
9:30
There was a lovely photo montage of him outside the ground and lovely tributes paid to him inside the ground and during the game as well and afterwards as well.
Rory O'HaganHOST
9:38
It was just really classy stuff.
Rory O'HaganHOST
9:39
Obviously, Alan Quinlan, close personal friend of Axel Foley, played with him, soldiered with him for so many years.
Rory O'HaganHOST
9:45
This was Quinlan the whole weekend.

Before we get to that,
RichardHOST
41:17
they did in the back end of last top 14 season like we saw what they did to like Stade Francais at the end of last season it was pretty pretty crazy stuff but yeah like amazing amazing result for them yeah not much else not much else to say I think the We mentioned Rassing actually had a fair crack at Munster, which was quite cool.
RichardHOST
41:40
I know that was obviously on the anniversary of Anthony Foley's death 10 years on and there was fantastic tributes around that game down in Down in Cork.
RichardHOST
41:52
Probably actually was a little bit unfair.
RichardHOST
41:53
They did change it up, but it was not a bad side at all that went there.
Nathan JohnsHOST
0:11
It's not that long ago we were talking about four defeats in one weekend for the Irish teams, but it was a good start to both the Champions and Challenge Cups.
Nathan JohnsHOST
0:19
Leinster beating Clermont, Connacht beating Saris at home and Munster... overcoming Racing 92 on the anniversary of Anthony Foley's death, while meanwhile in the Challenge Cup, Ulster got off to a winning start as well against Zebrae.
Nathan JohnsHOST
0:34
So with all those results in mind and even a little bit of international action with New Zealand taking on Australia in the Bledisloe Cup, I'm joined by Gordon Darcy and John O'Sullivan to pick through the weekend's action.

Morning, John.

20 MINS LATER

Nathan JohnsHOST
21:04
Now that we've kind of used Gleeson and Casey to get into Munster, let's talk a little bit more about that game.
Nathan JohnsHOST
21:09
Obviously a very significant occasion down in Cork.
Nathan JohnsHOST
21:13
It was interesting, obviously a lot of commentary that because of the Anthony Foley factor that that game should have been in Limerick, but Munster felt compelled to release a statement explaining why.
Nathan JohnsHOST
21:22
It was in Cork and basically they put that game in Cork before they knew it was going to be Rassing, which is obviously another significant factor in that story.
Ian KeatleyGUEST
46:57
So this is real, like, it's a big boost of confidence.
Ian KeatleyGUEST
47:00
Obviously, it was Anthony Foley's 10-year anniversary.
Ian KeatleyGUEST
47:03
And I think Munster did a fantastic job of paying tribute to him.
Ian KeatleyGUEST
47:07
And so did the core crowd.
Ryan WilsonHOST
56:46
Um, but may- maybe to change it up, I'm not sure.
Ryan WilsonHOST
56:50
But there was a, a great tribute, obviously 10 years since, uh, Axel Foley passing away, so there was a big tribute to him.
Ryan WilsonHOST
56:57
Um, so good to see.
Ryan WilsonHOST
56:58
And tell you what, it was some match as well.
Dara Smith-NoctonCORRESPONDENT
15:02
a great win at the weekend obviously against wrassen such an emotional game can you describe to me what the dressing room was like before and after the game
Alex NankivellGUEST
15:10
yeah it was before i was there was kind of a small kind of bit of excitement but a bit of nerves too obviously like a big game playing wrestling we've got some i guess seasoned pros but some massive men and some amazing athletes and i think we just set the recap really well um the leadership group and the coaches did a really good job of kind of seeing the scene around what the week was in terms of the 10 years of anthony foley and we don't hide away from the emotion of that and i think because we we embraced that and we brought his legacy to life um throughout the week there wasn't kind of any i guess indecision around what we had to do and how we had to play for him to honour him appropriately and also to get a win for Munster.
Alex NankivellGUEST
16:00
And then because we, I guess, did that well and prepared well, afterwards everyone was stoked, mate.
Alex NankivellGUEST
16:10
Obviously to honour him, with the win and to be able to connect as a group after the game and sing stand up and fight was pretty cool with his wife and family there but then also just for the club like it's a win for Munster is always great and we kind of owe it to the fans for the I guess putting them through what we have in the last few years to getting them back onside and show them some love.
Alex NankivellGUEST
16:40
It's nice to be able to open a beer and sit down and just enjoy the moment.
Dara Smith-NoctonCORRESPONDENT
16:45
I was going to ask about the stand-up and fight kind of, I don't know what you call it, kind of huddle and the sing-along.
Dara Smith-NoctonCORRESPONDENT
16:53
Being someone that's a bit removed from it all, you obviously didn't grow up here, but I'm sure you've understood or been told plenty about Axel Foley.
Dara Smith-NoctonCORRESPONDENT
17:02
What was that moment like for you? Did you find yourself getting a bit emotional in it?
Gerry ThornleySOUNDBITE_SPEAKER

The star of the show in Cork was 20-year-old out-half Charlie O'Shea, making his Champions Cup debut in the 10 jersey.
Will SlatteryHOST
51:15
But, uh, kind of a, a positive night overall.
Will SlatteryHOST
51:18
Obviously, the Anthony Foley tribute as well.
Will SlatteryHOST
51:20
Obviously, very emotional time for, for Munster people.
Will SlatteryHOST
51:24
Um, so there was a lot going on.
Jeff PaganoHOST
15:19
His loss overshadowed the weekend's rugby.
Jeff PaganoHOST

Simon ChadwickPANELIST
60:29
Yeah, I think Leinster will win.
Simon ChadwickPANELIST
60:33
The main reason being Munster had a very emotional game last week with the 10th anniversary of Anthony Foley.
Simon ChadwickPANELIST
60:40
what happened to iron and andrews would only have brought that home further to them i you know saw great casey talking about it after the match and you know it's very difficult then and they got a great win a very emotional win very difficult then to back that up again even for lenster even for you know a big game like this they you know monster have are a good i think when they put their when they've got their best team out there that's a good size that can compete with anyone but they don't have the depth um and if they have to change a couple of players if they have to um you know, they're going to have to reach down again into an emotional well because I think Leinster are going to lock and load for this.
Simon ChadwickPANELIST
61:11
I think they're going to make minimal changes.
