Antenna

ESA's New Norcia Station, about 140 kilometers north of Perth and run in partnership with CSIRO, is where Europe's deep space network began.

The 35-meter antenna there was the agency's first.

There's now a second 35-meter dish at the site built for the current generation of missions, with BepiColombo named among those it supports.

Same reason the Canberra Complex exists.

It was good to go.

I'm looking at a photo of it now, the number 67 Mr. Antenna pill bean, as it were.

How did you end up with Mr. Antenna sponsorship? Where did you pull this one from?

Oh, look, we were putting out, well, I was putting out proposals everywhere.

So, you know, you never know which one's going to hit.

You've got to sort of tailor each one according to what you're offering.

And I think the race of a thousand years was such a brilliant concept.

So Mr. Antenna took it on board and thought, yep, this is going to work.

In December of 2003, Boeing issued a service letter that they had no objection to installing gaskets to prevent moisture from getting into the antennas.

which Turkish began doing in April of 04.

In February of 07, Turkish Technic issued an alert notification for the radio altimeter systems, which expedited the gasket installations, which was completed by the end of 08.

I thought, I can't turn that down.
