Well, as Farron said, this is Wing at Waterfowl.
Where Your Ducks Unlimited Donation Goes And Why It Matters | Illinois Waterfowl Scene | Commonalties We Find As Waterfowl Hunters
C
12:38Cal McCartyGUEST
You know, the first time we talked, we talked about the common thread of just a mower, duck, or Canada goose, whatever it is.
C
12:45Cal McCartyGUEST
And Tony and I both being in the sales world and our other jobs outside of Waterfowl, you know, a lot of stuff gets done in a pit or a field, whether it's brushing the blind for the season or, you know, hunting and not seeing a bird or hunting and killing a double band six-man limit.
C
13:02Cal McCartyGUEST
You know, it's...
C
13:03Cal McCartyGUEST
it all gets neutralized.

Um, this is, uh, going to be a little bit left field, but again, you know, my brain has just been going about the, the, the, the, uh, question from Alex.
T
48:32Tony VogelHOST
Cause I think it's a big one and I think that I want to answer it even in further depth and.
T
48:36Tony VogelHOST
One of the things that a lot of people do not know about, and I know that DU did their darn best to promote it, is that one of the biggest things that, to me, this is just my opinion, that y'all have done that affects everybody on this planet is the film Wings Over Waterfowl.
T
48:55Tony VogelHOST
You know, that was a DU funded.
Ep. 144 – The Blind Leading the (Duck) Blind – PART 1 – How we talk ducks
M
22:59MikeHOST
But let us be clear, the Foul Weather podcast never saw it coming.
M
23:03MikeHOST
But once we got into the Waterfowl podcast world and were forced to engage on more social media platforms, it became abundantly clear that the Waterfowl world, all the great people across duck country, were starving for good, unfiltered, and sometimes blunt information.
M
23:20MikeHOST
We were drowning in data but starved for knowledge.
M
23:23MikeHOST
Look, nonprofits do an amazing job of moving the good information out to the public, but they can't be edgy like an independent voice, like the Foulweather podcast can when BS rears its ugly head from the leading homers, the leading haters, and the leading conformists.

Previously, PFOS has also been detected at Richardsons Lagoon in Eucha in 2019 and other areas nearby Eucha since then.
E

Waterfowl, including Pacific black and gray teal ducks, have also ha- had PFAS detected in their breast meat, raising the question of how the ducks were exposed to PFAS.
E
9:11ElenaHOST
Along the Murray, over 250 kilometers between Mildura and Koondook are likely to experience PFAS levels above ecological guidelines, which could impact hundreds of species.
E
9:24ElenaHOST
Meanwhile, testing the New South Wales has been limited, and in South Australia, testing ha- has missed the detection of PFAS.
The Most Impactful $25 in Duck Hunting
B
6:19Brent BirchHOST
So we spent a lot more than $25 on stuff, as duck hunters are really good at doing.
B
6:27Brent BirchHOST
So, yeah, it was just an easy... easy spend and and i took it the same way as you did the way that u.s fish and wildlife service press release came out related to that you know i believe it said we're not gonna do anything further as we review the information available something to that effect so yeah i don't know that it's a done deal done deal um on the drain tile setbacks but it's definitely made them hit pause which was i consider that a success for the time being and then you have to rely on the The lobbying folks at Ducks Unlimited and Delta Waterfowl and the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Program, all those things that are involved in protecting habitat for wildlife to really work their magic in D.C., they're just going to have a thorn in their side with this senator from North Dakota.
B
7:19Brent BirchHOST
Because in case you haven't seen...
B
7:23Brent BirchHOST
He, after kind of somewhat lost this effort to get the U.S.

If you've seen the post online, go to that website, buy2duckstamps.com. Go look at the number of people who committed to help.
C
16:41Cason ShortHOST
and spread the word and read that list.
C
16:43Cason ShortHOST
And it is a very encouraging list of people all across the Waterfowl space who care enough to take the time to do it.
C
16:52Cason ShortHOST
So I think I mentioned before we started here, Brent, I was reading it off to my wife last night before it launched.

T
40:52Tom WilliamsHOST
Talk about that a little bit.
James Callicutt
J
6:21James CallicuttGUEST
So, yeah.
J
6:21James CallicuttGUEST
It's a fun podcast, just a bunch of folks that mostly co-hosted between Mark McConnell and I, and Brian joins us on a lot of the Waterfowl episodes.
J
6:31James CallicuttGUEST
And it's just guys crazy about birds and, more importantly, bird hunting, talking about science and habitat management.
C
6:39Cason ShortHOST
So, yeah, and that ties right back into what I was going to say.
J
8:21James CallicuttGUEST
It definitely, you know, there's a lot of that happening.
J
8:25James CallicuttGUEST
And it's important to Mark and myself that whether our students that don't come here as hunters, you know, whether they continue, like are recruited into the hunting community, we want them to understand that and experience it because they need to, they're serving a stakeholder group that is mostly hunters, you know, they need to understand that.
J
8:47James CallicuttGUEST
So we do, we participate, of course, in Delta Waterfowl's University Hunt Program and we take a group of students doing that.
J
8:54James CallicuttGUEST
All of my, and Mark and I do this a lot with our graduate students and research associates.
