Another World

everybody thinks of, uh,

of, another world.

They think of, of Kung Fu Barbie.

Alicia Lee Willis.

Her and a Martinez together.

I'm like, Oh,

I was like, but they couldn't get anybody from another world.

I know she was on it.

Friday the 13th, 1980, directed by Sean S. Cunningham.

Writer, Victor Miller, who is also a writer on All My Children, One Life to Live, and Another World.

Actually, real quick, because you were asking who's the creative engine.

So those are actually, according to litigation, the creative engines were Sean S. Cunningham and Victor Miller.

And truly, there are so many great little pieces of daytime history in here that I had never heard before.

I remember you telling me this, but you also write in the book that while you were working on the Texas book, hearing the cast talk about their friends in another world brought all those characters and storylines rushing back to you.

Was that the moment you knew there was another book here and what made you decide to focus on this particular era?

Yeah, that was the catalyst because as the Texas folks told me about all the friends they made on Another World, I kind of remember that I watched Another World from 1980 to 1982.

But then I thought, I can't write a book about two years of a soap opera that went on for like 30 years.

And then I kind of delved into it a little bit.

And I thought, well, going to 90 minutes was like the only, Another World was the only one that did that.

and then as i delved into it i learned about lovers and friends and for richer for poorer which i never watched and i said i only could do the book if i could find people from those two soaps to talk to me and i did surprisingly even the guy that got fired um bob purdy who got fired after like i don't know five weeks on the show even he was a surfer turned actor he talked to me and then i went after all these people from another world.

Daytime vet, and I'm going to strictly just do it like this.

Whether you knew him from his double stint on Another World, him as Cyrus on General Hospital, and I'm going to say this, he was a pretty good one too.

Or if he was your version of Bo Brady, because I'm going to slam some people on that in a minute.

We are deeply saddened to report that Robert Calcoculley passed away.

Now, I'm going to do it like this.

His co-star, Crystal Chappelle, posted on Twitter, and it was a clip of their interactions.

Sandra D. Robinson from Another World also posted her, you know, her words and everything else like that.

Kelly Moneymaker, who is Peter Rucker's wife, she also posted as well of her condolences, her and Peter's condolences to Robert.

That's my advice.

And yeah, we have to start on a bit of a somber note because we got, uh, word that, um, Robert Kelker Kelly, which may not be a, a name super familiar to you, but if you've ever watched Another World, throwback, uh, Days of Our Lives, or General Hospital, Robert Kelker Kelly was a significant part of each of those shows.

Mm-hmm.

Uh, going by, for me, Another World was my favorite.

Yep.

And, uh, he was Sam Fowler on that show, and super handsome.

He was the second actor to play Bo Brady on Days of Our Lives, starring in the soap opera from '92 to '95.

He's also being remembered for playing two characters on Another World, Sam Fowler in the '80s and Dr. Shane Roberts in the '90s, as well as for playing Stavros Cassadine on General Hospital.

Uh-

Sorry, that's the guy I think looks like Fernando Lamas.

This past week, we had a couple passings amongst our former daytime community.

Actor Mark Mortimer, most famous for his role as Nick Hudson on Another World Passed Away at the age of 59 after a battle with cancer.

i remember watching another world but i i confess i do not remember his character from back in the day i don't know if jillian you watched any another world back then i didn't think so so uh and mel i'm pretty sure that you didn't either

you know he wasn't looking at that nbc at my grandmother's house well

no

See,

and we were NBC.

Like, I remember my mom and grandma watching Another World in Days until The Devil Possession, at which point my mother and grandmother were like, we're not messing with that shit.

Now also, another note, this actually covers two shows.

He was also on Another World.

Um, rest in peace Robert Kelker Kelly-

Mm

Mm-hmm.

So that's my thing.

But for me, he was a good Stavros, he was a good B- Bo Brady, he was a good Sam Fowler on, uh, on Another World.

He was a, so he was a guy that some people are complicated.

I, uh, was at work, and I got a text from my dear friend Darrelle Anthony, uh, that Robert Kelker Kelly had passed away.

Um, coming from The Hollywood Reporter, Robert Kelker Kelly, a soap opera star known for his roles on Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, and Another World, died Saturday.

He was 62.

The St. Peters Police Department told TMZ that officers responded to Kelker Kelly's home in Missouri to tend to an unconscious man who was not breathing after complaining of chest pain.

At the scene, authorities reportedly attempted life-saving measures, but they were unsuccessful.

The cause of death wasn't immediately available.

Um, and then meanwhile, I was totally shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Another World star Mark Mordamoor, um, after a, quote, "fearless journey with cancer." Um, Mark sadly passed away at 59.

Uh, Mark took over the role of Nick Hudson on Another World, uh, from 1996 to '99.
