uh it's a shame i never saw the kickstarter when it was going on because i i definitely would have donated oh thanks because because this is like like i like you know in the in the pre-interview i get this i get this movie completely man uh because even before i saw it i actually had an idea for a movie not similar but You know what I mean? Like a movie where I said, you know what? It's like a throwback to the 80s slashers.

to ask you if you'd seen that one.

Cause that one is like, Yeah, like you say, like I'm thinking of ending things or Anomalisa, the other two films he's directed or, you know, kind of going down its own path.

Sinetti in New York, though, is like such a piercing existential crisis of a movie.

And it features one of my favorite actors, Philip Seymour Hoffman.

recommend a sex scene in a film called Anomalisa.

Those three films that are written and directed by Kaufman are some of the most challenging films I've experienced.

When you think of like challenging cinema, I think he's a great person to bring up.

Yes, this film called Lincoln in the Bardo will be a live-action, stop-motion hybrid film recounting Lincoln after the death of his 11-year-old son.

Peter Dinklage and Willem Dafoe are set to star as well, and I have no idea how to feel about this film, but Duke Johnson, the director of the Charlie Kaufman-written adult stop-motion film Anomalisa, is directing, so that's kind of interesting.

But, Hanks, that's Lincoln.

You know, very skeptical.

And I think in the last 10 years, especially you're starting to see a lot of really adult animation really become more prevalent.

Like you had a few years ago, Anomalisa get nominated for best picture, which was a stop motion, very fucking sad movie.

And so you're starting to see a lot more of this.

But studios can't get out of their way, own fucking way, and still market it because, like Dan is saying, they're like, oh, adults just aren't going to watch this.

Well, it's the kind of idea that no one else either has or tries to do anything with or is even remotely close to the point in the Hollywood machine or whatever, where they could get that across.

I think even the fact that Ingo's entire movie is puppets and puppetry, I wonder if some of that was, obviously Anomalisa was puppets.

I mean, even John Malkovich, he does marionettes.

Charlie Kaufman has had a significantly, a really difficult time getting movies made since he started directing instead of screenwriting.
