Hunger of Fruitful Suburbs.

You know, we have the tradition of beat poetry, and there are some really notable beat poets in the collection.

Ferlinghetti, people like Jim Morrison, Ann Waldman, all these wonderful people in the collection.

Ann Waldman, a dear personal favorite of mine.

And what we were interested in I was the lead editor, but I also worked with S.A. Griffin, who I mentioned earlier, Alexis Rome, former San Francisco poet laureate Kim Shuck.

And we focused on California poets.

I had a facility for movement, But she, and performers, you know, bring in all these people and create these lavish productions where so much is going on and it's very layered.

And so I've really been attracted to that.

And with playing drums and playing, standing up and just being very physical and with my live performances and inspired by Ann Waldman for years, I've, I've memorize my work because I don't like to be encumbered with holding a physical paper.

And they were worried about the direction of travel of America.

And Anne Waldman, who we have coming, she comes from that kind of second generation of poets that came out of the East Coast scene in New York.

And so we had heard about this and then we researched and of course we went to Morocco, we went to Los Angeles, to San Francisco, we went to Boulder, Colorado, we went to New York and did a lot of research and realized then at the end of the day that actually Kavanagh had gone in 1957 to America and met Ginsburg, had shared a stage with them.

and read poetry.

But this year, Unreal Cities have taken on curating it, building the programme around Kavanagh's surprising connection to the Beat Generation.

The festival runs from the 25th to the 27th of September with guests including Anne Waldman, Tommy Tiernan and the master musicians of Jajuka.
