Another that is new, sort of forward-looking, but based on existing assets project that I've loved working on is called Transit to Trails down in Southern California, the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument, where we've been just working in the background, supporting partners that have been working for a number of years to establish a new sort of urban to forest service transit system.

And so our... job of supporting Pasadena Transit, Angeles National Forest, and Nature for All, just in navigating the different roles and responsibilities for standing up this new pilot transit system to get access for folks who either can't or won't or don't have the ability to drive for a very low cost.

So figure out what's the right partnership structure for those three entities to work together, who has access to what sort of different pots of money, essentially, and then what are the agreements that you need in place to actually pull that off, right? So that pilot looks like it's on track, hopefully, to come on board next year.

So that'd be another type of example where it's a new program, but very partnership-based structure.

Even when it's legal, now you have a much more dangerous situation.

And in that one passing zone, like when you're coming down Angeles Crest Highway, a little bit past the intersection for Angeles Forest, there's a little passing zone there.

Right.

But at the end of the passing zone, what is it? It's a blind, like 90 degree turn.

That's a place where the state has been making some progress and planning to make a lot more, reintroducing fire.

But I think in order to prevent suburban neighborhoods from burning down, That's important, but we need to really focus right at the edge of the community, right, you know, in Eaton Canyon, uphill from Altadena and Angeles National Forest, for example.

And also, and this is the hard part, in people's backyards, right? The fire safety in suburban neighborhoods comes from good fuels management in and around the houses, usually within five feet of the house.

And that's a really different kind of problem than the Native Americans dealt with.

Is some version of that already happening? No.

I wish.

You know, this is a big – another aspect of this problem is federal land ownership especially, but also state, right? Topanga State Park in the Palisades Fire Context and the Angeles National Forest in the Eaton Fire Context.

And we need to do a better job managing lands locally.
