The fact that I think you're finding that the plant world out there is changing in so many often contradictory and contrary ways.
16:59
They're changing in three different ways.
17:00
They can change the timing of things like flowering or putting their leaves on.
17:04
They can change in the way they grow, so they're undergoing rapid evolution in response to the new conditions, and we're seeing evidence of that in Australia's native plants.
17:16
But the other thing they're doing is shifting their distributions.
17:19
So plants are shifting around really fast.
17:23
We have data for about six thousand species worldwide now, and the average rate at which plant species are shifting towards the pole is nine hundred meters per year, which is just extraordinary for things that have roots.

Once the egg in the flower is fertilized, the petals will fall away.
7:31
The flower just needed those to get the pollinator's attention.
7:34
Now the bud of the flower, the part the petals grow from, this will grow bigger and bigger, and eventually become the fruit of the plant.
7:43
In this case, a quandong berry.

How do we help the seeds?
12:21
Well, one of the biggest problems we have is people clearing land and getting rid of plants to build houses.
