Ángela Aguilar

... and beautiful people in our culture, and in every culture.

But I honored my abuela, and then we had Angela Aguilar sing.

Mm-hmm.

Uh, Willie Chavarria was the, like, creative director.

But think about, for example, Kacey Musgraves, the white pop country singer.

She's covered Selena many a times, but there's been no outrage there, and some people are gonna say, "Oh, but she did it in a respectful way." And I wanna know what is respectful, to play the song with very few changes, if at all? And what about someone like Ángela Aguilar, who did a whole album of very, in my opinion, boring Selena covers, turning Selena songs into Mexican ranchera, which, fine, I guess.

I love Mexican ranchera, but the whole point of Selena was the fusion of sounds from both sides of the border.

And then Ángela Aguilar goes on to speak like this about Selena.

"Era una señora ya más grande.

Yo tengo dieciséis años, apenas estoy empezando.

The Knowles have shown Selena love for many years.

Solange has covered Selena in concerts in Texas before.

people say you look like?

Angela Aguilar, bro.

Over my head.

Yeah.

Look that up, bro.

Who told you that? Everybody

says Angela Aguilar.

Oh, look that

And let's not forget her hit collaborations.

Songs with artists like Angela Aguilar and Alejandro Fernandez, that's a power move.

Right, it showcases her versatility.

But I wonder, does it also overshadow her solo work?
