Have you had leadership committees? Have you had veteran guys? How does that all work in the Andy Reid organization?

Yeah, so we have a players' committee, um, and really it's, it's one...

And I pick the players' committee.

So they pick the captains, I pick the players' committee, and it's really, it's not the coach's pet at all.

It's a guy that I think might be the best communicator.

So I, and he doesn't have to be the best player or anything else, he just, I, he has to be able to communicate to the other guys, and they have to trust him.

So there's one player per position, and we meet every Wednesday at 8:05, and the table's open.

And so I think he's excited to have an opportunity to play with a guy like Chris Jones in the room, Mike Dana, who was his college teammate, and just the room that we have and obviously playing for Coach Spaggs.

about you and Chris discussing where he might move in certain matchups to maybe get a one-on-one? And I guess what's it like for you to watch him go through the game and sort of try to find his one-on-ones if he's switching positions right before the ball is snapped, essentially?

You know, there are certain things.

Like I said, the chess match, and Coach Spaggs does a great job – you know, hey, where do you want to put him? What do you want to do? This is where we can put him.

So we decide all that.

You know, there are certain things, uh, and like I said, the, the, the chess match and, and Coach Spags does a great job, you know, you know, "Hey, where do you wanna put him? What do you wanna do? This is where we can put him." So we decide all that, but it's really an opportunity.

He has an opportunity to win on certain plays, all five spots on the line of scrimmage, and there are certain ones where he's, he's delegated to a spot on the line of scrimmage.

How have these guys impressed you thus far, uh, i- in camp?

Yeah, good to get some young defensive players.

You're trying to juggle the salary cap, VJ has to deal with all that.

You better be, be able to bring in some young guys that can contribute, and these are smart guys that are good football players.

And, um, they look like they've got a nice upside.

They just gotta keep learning, and then they gotta pound.

You know how this thing goes with the mental and physical part of camp.

Can he continue to rise, take the easier throws, and continuity in the scheme, and help the Panthers repeat as NFC South champs? If he does, then he may be looking at a big payday next off-season.

He said, you know, he said, "I, I asked Andy," and Andy, and you said, "Change can be good," [laughs] right? That was-

Yeah, well, yeah, you know, I, I felt that way.

I felt we had a good run in Philadelphia and 14 years of it and, um, and, and you know what? Sometimes change can just be good.

I mean, I love the people there in Philadelphia.

I love the peo- I love Jeff Lurie and the, the, the organization, Joe Banner and Howie Roseman, all these guys, uh, were good people.

But just sometimes your time is up and, and, uh, at one place and, and change can be good for both sides.

And so I felt that that would carry over for John.

... and that, you know, I, I'm sure that resonated well with the guys.

They're eliminate distractions, create energy, fear nothing, attack everything.

And they're, they're good for our profession, which I think is a microcosm of life, uh, this whole little football world, if you get rid of the fluff.

Um, a- and at the same time, these guys have another life outside of the game.

And, um, and the game doesn't last as long as what any of us would like these guys to have.

Uh, uh, if you can get through three or four years in this league, you, you've, uh, that's a major accomplishment.

Right.

Yeah.

So he, he's sitting here, um, and he wants to play.

That's what he wants to do, and he didn't want to end on what we did last year.

That's not where he wanted to [clears throat] finish his career, so he was all in right from the get-go, uh, after the season ended, and, um, and I, I appreciate that with him that how much he loves to play the game.

I mean, there's one thing, though, but he's a great player, but the heart, man, is unbelievable.

He, he just...

Uh, this guy wants to play every snap, every practice snap, every game snap, uh, competitive all get out, so I appreciate that.

Right

That's immediately what they see.

No, it sure helps.

Um, a- and it started really giving credit to where the whole thing started was when I first got here, the, we had a lot of really good defensive players here and, and those guys, [clears throat] all those veteran guys came up to me and they go, "Hey, you just tell us what you want done, and we're gonna do it, and we'll make sure everybody else does it." And so my hat goes off to those guys for that attitude.

And, and then, um, we were able to challenge them, and they hung with it, and that's, that's where the culture takes place, and those guys get the credit for that.

And then these other guys have just kind of followed in line, and we've, uh, and Brett's done a nice job, as John Dorsey did before, bringing guys in that, um, are good guys, that are team guys.

And, uh, as long as you have that, you're normally in pretty good shape.

No.

Well, you know how that thing goes, man.

Those loose lips sink the ships.

I mean, there's nothing – There's nothing greater in this, especially amongst scouts and a lot of people involved.

So you tell one person, it's not a secret anymore.

It spreads fast in this league.

So a nice little stretch there.

Yeah.

So he, he's sitting here, um, and he wants to play.

This is our decision." I'm interested in, in who the sellers are and who the buyers are, and what sort of categorizes them at this particular point in time.

Um, essentially they are the people that prioritize life over money, right? So, so essentially, and that FYI, is the vast majority of the consumer population, right? I, I...

Comparatively speaking, there are very, very few people, comparatively, that play in the marketplace because they're tycoons, right? The vast majority of the population operate their decision-making based on something that their life requires, right? The vast majority of people don't just magically wake up one day and go, "You know what? I fancy selling my house today."Right? It just doesn't happen.

Property for everyone, I'd say even the tycoons, property for everybody, it's not an end destination.

It is a, it is a transaction that helps them to bring whatever it is they wanna have achieved into life, right? So for the, for all the vendors that I'm calling for and all the bu- and, you know, any buyer that I'm speaking to really, um, they are all people that just want their life to move forward, right? And you talk about, uh, you talk about a pretty obvious statement, right, which is economics 101, supply and demand.

We all, and the, and throughout the budget, everybody kept saying, "There are more people than we've got houses for." Right? That was just, that was uniform across the board, right? And so therefore, that's why we're doing X, Y, and Z.

And so that was the one thing that they all pretty much could agree on.

Hmm

Yeah

... 'cause I was already men- mentally strong.

And like I say, you know, there's other guys who've been injured maybe six months before me, triple amputee.

I could see him walking, so you think, "Well, he's a triple amputee.

He's walking, so there's no reason why, why I can't walk." I'm not gonna ask him how he's got up and about walking, so I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna do that.

But, you know, I'm gonna, I'm gonna work out for myself, but I can see that there's gonna be progression there.

Um, and, and to be honest, it, it's, uh, uh, the banter's happening down there with all the lads still, all the Army guys.

Yeah.

Mm

... and kept it, like, a little, shown a little bit of restraint.

I, I, I get it.

Like, if you're, if you're a City fan, you say, "Yeah, yeah, he should be definitely sent off." But I, I, I've watched a couple of games over the last couple of weeks, and I think the referees have been a little bit more kind of lenient.

They've let a little bit more go.

The games have, uh, have flowed a little bit, a little bit more, and I like that.

Um, I, I just think we've got into a culture of it's just too easy to dish out yellow cards and red cards, and I'd like it to go back a little bit to, to...
