Andy Martino

The Mets just provided some huge updates.

Andy Green, we know he's officially the manager, and now it looks like he's going to have a slightly different coaching staff as longtime Mets employees Danny Barnes, Jeff Albert, and Kevin Mahoney are all out of the organization, and Green will have his picking alongside David Stearns, I'm sure, of who will be the official cast of characters in the Mets dugout in the coaching staff alongside Andy Green for 2027 and beyond.

What's going on, guys? I'm Josh Burton.

You're tuned into Mets Digest.

And right out of the chute, we didn't see it coming.

It, it actually happened during the season.

Andy Green named the official guy moving forward, and I was very happy about this news because I really liked what he did once he became the interim manager, especially with how he was able to handle himself to the media, his explanations post-game, his ability to connect with young players, and that background in player development really came through with him.

And for a team that is so young, that is really putting all their chips in at this point on that young homegrown talent, on building up the farm system and continuing to churn out prospects, i.e. Jefferson Rojas, Mitch Voight, Billy Amick, it's going to be key to keep Andy Green around and see how he can work with those young players.

And then, you know, Mendoza was well-respected.

And I think the criticism of Stearns, and I brought this up on one of my premium pieces, that Andy Martino said something different on one of his podcasts recently.

He said that Stearns really enjoyed working with Mendoza.

You know, prepping for the game and everything, and it was really hard to fire him.

the sponsor that we are as deeply grateful for as we could possibly be for making this possible, P.C. Richard and Son.

Chelsea Janes, who used to be a beat reporter for the Nationals, is now a beat reporter.

I think this is her first year for the Mets, kind of took Andy Martino's job.

And she tweeted out, Anthony Rendon said something almost exactly like this to me once you don't want to be mentioned in the same breath as Anthony Rendon so that's all I'll say

yeah and I think you mentioned the good grace part I feel like Toronto's been more than fair to him as far as the fan base goes they try to take the Trey Turner approach to him like Philly did with him when he was struggling I don't think he got a standing ovation but you and I mentioned on the pod we were talking about some disappointing seasons.

Well, Andy Green called it a terrifying moment on a baseball field, and it certainly was when Jared and Nolan McClain collided just in front of first base.

Nolan's knee went into Jared's head.

Not appropriate right now.
