before.The first thing that I did is I went to meet as many as my predecessors as possible, sat down with them and just asked their advice.

What, you know, if they were going back in tomorrow, what would they do differently? What would they do the same? Uh, what should I be concerned about? The most impressive was Andy Coulson, who I thought was incredibly insightful.

What Andy, I felt, understood better than anybody else was the politics of the building.

Everything down from where you are seated in, in the structure, you know, where your room is, where you will spend your time, sight lines of, you know, access to the, to the PM, the box, making sure that your name's on the right email chain so you're getting the right papers and you're seeing the policy stuff before it's out the front door.

It exists for one simple reason, to help you through.
