I hate to tell you, you know, so how does, how does that blame from your experience kind of set in and what are some things employers could start to do about it to even shift the way they think about it before we even execute differently? How can we shift our mindset of instead of me being quick to blame our employees to really investigate what's going on and get to the root cause? It
8:10
takes years, right? When you meet someone, you get to know them.
8:13
The more you get to know them, the more you know how to behave around them.
8:17
So if you're in a company that's been working for 30 years, they've established, right, these are the narratives, this is the way that we behave.
8:25
A lot of the issues that I have with, you know, the psychological safety thing, we're sitting in a meeting, we're going to get people to speak up, I'm going to see that people are uncomfortable or whatever.
8:35
But hang on a minute, it's taken us years to To build the conditions that are surrounding us.
8:41
Why would we think that a single transaction or a single event is going to unpick all of that? It's going to take maybe not so many years, but it's going to take days, weeks, months, years to undo all of that social programming.

24:31
So have you seen that in some of the companies you worked with? I've posted on
ChrisHOST
23:03
So what's that? What's that? What does that look like? Cause I think that's really fascinating.
23:07
Yeah.
23:07
So when I took it over, the one thing that the previous council had for me was that they wanted to do more, but they didn't feel like they had the backing of, of the coaching staff.
23:21
Yeah.
23:23
And so I pretty quickly changed that atmosphere just based on words and how I created basically a you know, command type structure where, look, you know, if you have issues, you can go to, you can come directly to me.
23:41
I have an open door policy.
23:42
If you have issues that you think you need to come straight to me for, you can certainly can, but I would encourage you because in life we all have bosses and then they have bosses and it goes up and so forth.

love too, but I suppose this was a Gator when he was down there.

How did you trip one day and fall into the insurance industry? I just want you to go back in time, talk about how you got into the industry, and then just kind of bring us up to the day.
18:59
Well, so the first 10 years of my career was with Bell South, full corporate environment.
19:04
And Bell South, at that point in time, Bell South Mobility turned to singular wireless eventually at AT&T.
19:09
So I got to experience that side of the house.
19:13
I was very fortunate, as you mentioned earlier, to go to WKU.
19:16
And I was in a fraternity there and had fraternity brothers that were in the insurance industry, specifically in the agency side of the house.
19:25
And we had talked several times.

28:53
Talk about all that.
9:22
Do you want to comment on that?
9:24
Well, I'll comment on the one in ten.
9:25
Yeah, so I was inclined to contact you when I saw recent headlines saying, you know, cannabis doesn't work, it shouldn't be prescribed.
9:36
And Royal College of Psychiatrists colleagues saying, you know, these are drug dealers for the middle classes and there's no evidence of benefit, therefore these medicines should not be used in practice.
9:47
And I kind of took those seriously and I thought, have I just been duped by the... cannabis industry and wishful thinking that these things are going to help.
9:56
So I went back to look at the evidence, but I also was really struck that those sorts of headlines were so not in keeping with my experience in the clinic where I've been working.
10:08
medical cannabis clinics for 18 months or so and i keep having patients saying doctor this medicine's changed my life and you know nhs psychiatrists don't get told that very often i have to say yeah so there's clearly a sort of selection bias because the people you see in clinic are the people by and large who have been using it illegally often for some time because they found that it helps their mental health conditions and they are finding now a great relief that they can come into the medical cannabis clinic because suddenly they're not illegal suddenly they're no longer stigmatized they don't have to feel anxious they don't have to feel paranoid they don't have to deal with unsavory people getting poor quality medicine they don't know what's been in it they don't know what the medicine is from one week to the next on the black market whereas They can come in and have quality assured medicine.

Yeah, definitely endorse that.
