Andscape

It's interesting when other people put a critical analysis on things and tell interesting stories.

The most interesting stuff we found is Jeff Peterson talking to Anscape or LaMelo Ball doing a profile for GQ or whatever magazine it was they did a profile for.

Like that's when we get the interesting stuff.

And so what happens when all of that, on a local level, what happens when that goes away? And I would argue it's been going away for a number of years, but what happens when it completely goes away? When those stories, what happens to our connection to the team? Does it eventually, not consciously, we're not thinking about it, but eventually, does it unconsciously start to unravel? wind our fandom? Does it start to separate us from the team in some way and our attention goes to something else?

Uh, we, we kept that terrific story Mark Spears over at Andscape wrote, uh, about Isaiah Stewart a little bit and his, you know, coming to Memphis and some of his expectations and how the organization has received him, the fan base a- and those things.

And I just wanna continue to dive into that with him.

Uh, I understand that he's already been working out with some of the players on the Grizzlies team, uh, so how is that going for him a- and all of these things.

Uh, I wrote a story today, and it was more of, you know, public commentary on Ben Simmons' return.

First of all, Marc Spears, who's a well-known NBA writer for ESPN, um, and Andscape, and he spoke about how he's pr- got a pretty good relationship with Ben Simmons and how he said, "You know, I'm good to go, like I'm ready to get back into the league." And he said, "You know, no one's really seen you play." Uh, and the turning point was that Boomers mini camp.

He mentioned, you know, playing against all the Australian NBA players, looking pretty good and also, you know, having some sort of signature plays, like some, some big dunks and everything which just showed that athleticism is back.

Um, and then another one, one of my favorite podcasts apart from Cut to the Jase obviously-

... who i- it was really, there was a, a great story on Andscape that was written by Sean Heard that really went deep into Bethany Donavan and, and who she is and-

...

And so that's, that's, to me, what makes her seem like a really interesting candidate.

Mm-hmm.

That Andscape article, I remember reading it.

Um, it's a little older now, and I do wonder how the last few years have impacted the way that players feel about her, 'cause I remember there was a time when they felt pretty strongly about her.

And his initial response was, I'm sorry if you were offended, which offended me more.

It's a long story and Charles changed his mind and we had a long talk both then and a year later.

We connected for life, but we talked a lot that year and the story is about that year between the times when that happened.

And so that was the big story over the last couple of days, and joining us now, uh, our pal David Dennis Jr.
