Android Central closing down.

I just wanted to throw this out here.

So apparently f- so Future ...

They're, they're owned by Future.

Um, they've owned Android Central for a while.

But after this last week, all six writers got let go.

Um, uh, a little bit of, uh, Android media news, uh, over the weekend.

Uh, those of us that work in the whole Android press, Android media world, we're all in a little tizzy, uh, when the news broke that, uh, the, unfortunately, uh, the full-time staff over at Android central, uh, were all laid off by their owner, by their conglomerate owner of Future.

So that's always a bummer whenever you see folks getting laid off, especially folks who are doing good work.

Android Central is a site that has been around for a very, very long time.

So long.

Back in the day, Phil Dickinson was behind it.

It's a tough time for content.

It's a tough time for Android content and Android media.

It's terrible.

No, I mean, the, the funny part, and this, this, this, um, segues prop- like, nicely into our discussion on media because this week my former employer, Future, shut down one of the sites that I used to run, Android Central, fired everybody, uh, on the staff.

They t- technically didn't shut it down.

It's still publishing using freelancers.

But for all intents and purposes, Android Central is dead.

This is the site that I ran as editor-in-chief from 20- from 2016 through 2021.

It was one of my favorite places to work.

It's, it's a sad day for independent media.

You go, OK, Android fill in the blank dot com.

If it's Android Authority or police or R.I.P. Android Central.

All like all of these outlets had very similar editorial but feature descriptions.

And it's about this camera looks thing and the camera looks thing is kind of cool.

I also did a little write-up, another editorial.

I just had a lot of thoughts.

Recently, tech blog Android Central had a mass layoff.

At the time I wrote this, we hadn't had confirmation from the organization that purchased Android Central, Future PLC Publishing Company.

And there's no pricing listed on this yet, I think, if I remember correctly.
