Did you pitch this? What was that process like? Because I think so many people listening could benefit from I'm in a role and I want to be doing something different or I'm interviewing for a job and I want to pitch that this role does something unique to me.
6:39
Yeah, that is a great question.
6:41
So I started on what's called the daily news team.
6:44
So when you log into LinkedIn, you'll see on the top right corner of the homepage, like a little module that has like all these news stories and all of those are pretty much curated by our daily news team um they are looking at our publishing partners they're asking them you know what the top stories are you know what's most relevant to professionals so i was hired among the first people to like be part of that group and i did that for like a year and And we, you know, in tech, there are these things called offsites that are very big.
7:20
And essentially what happened was we went to, we went to like, it's going to sound very luxurious, but we went to like a beachside resort, but it was like March or April.
7:32
So it was, it was, and it was Long Island.
7:35
So it was very cold.

She's like, Kendall, should I be using an AI application system that'll send my resume to 10,000 jobs a day? Is that what I should be doing to get a job? So I'd love to hear how is AI tech specifically changing the job searching process and market? Because I think that's an area where we all feel a little clueless today.
11:28
Are there some tangible tips that you can give our listeners, ways that we can kind of use where we are to grow, whether that's, um, learning a new tool or gaining AI literacy experience at the organization that we're currently working in?
11:47
Don't be afraid to just volunteer either for projects that you see pop up or projects that, you know, maybe you've had percolating on the back burner for a little while.
11:59
And sometimes it could just be there-- I think there's a few ways to do it.
12:02
It, it's to pitch it when the timing sort of feels right.
12:06
One thing I often tell people who have reported to me in the past or who I'm mentoring is like, "Always have, like, that idea bank in your head, and you'll sort of know when the opportunities pop up." So as you have coffees with people cross-functionally, if things are a little slow, you can sort of say, "Oh, actually, I had this idea, and I would love to run it by you." So even if it's not fully formed, you have, like, that nugget there to p- pitch it.
12:33
But also just tell your managers and sort of your, the adjacent managers, you know, "I would really love to learn this," or, "I would love to do X, Y, and Z." And if you have a good manager or you have, you know, sponsors or people who are looking out for you, they will look for those opportunities.
12:52
And because a good manager realizes, like, you know, a, a, especially talking to a PM audience, not one person can do everything.

Andrew, any thoughts on should I stay or should I go?
2:56
in the data that you see?
2:57
For a while, we've seen the confidence in terms of even just like, you know, if I lost my job and I had to get a new one.
3:05
What would that look like? We've seen some of the lowest numbers we've ever seen.
3:09
As change becomes the norm, and even though it's always been the norm, you know, there's always those famous sayings, you end up with people who sort of get used to it.
3:17
So, you know, I think we're starting to see that show up in the data, but our Workforce Confidence Index, we...
3:23
For a while there, we would like sign on when we would get the new data in and it would always be like, you know, OK, guys, this is not great again.
3:30
And, you know, we would try and we would try and get through it.
8:03
the data that AI is putting
