Andreth

Mm-hmm.

Now, I'm hoping some of you already are at least aware of the Athrabeth Finrod ah Andreth.

Um, it comes from Morgoth's Ring, and it is this amazing discussion between Finrod, an elf, and a mortal woman, Andreth, about the metaphysical differences between elves and men.

Hmm.

Mm-hmm.

These two in their time shall find that all they do redounds at the end only to the glory of my work.

And possibly my favorite piece of Tolkien's writings, the Athrabeth Finrod ah Andreth.

Finrod discusses human nature with a mortal woman named Andreth.

He uncovers the human tradition which claims that Men were originally immortal, but suffered a primeval fall under the domination and corruption of Melkor, altering their physical state and relationship with Arda.

Finrod maintains the opinion that unfallen Men could not have possessed the exact same longevity within Arda as the elves.

We've got like Galadriel, Idril.

Andreth, Adnel, all kinds of ladies.

And most of these women's insights are famously ignored, often to the doom of others.

And here we have another interesting example, I think, to add to that list.
