Saima Wazed, the daughter of ousted Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, yesterday resigned as head of the World Health Organization Southeast Asia, following fraud investigations by WHO and Bangladeshi authorities.

The WHO placed Wazed on unpaid administrative leave late last year.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov today said Russia will close Germany's Goethe-Institut cultural centers, after Germany blamed Russia for the drone incident at the Leipzig Halle Airport.

Germany yesterday closed a Russian cultural center in Berlin and a consulate in Bonn.

Neither ministry has commented on the report.
