Andreas Brantelid

I am in Norrköping, Sweden this week doing a really exciting program that I've wanted to do for a long time.

Uh, the first half is Prokofiev's Sinfonia concertante with Andreas Brantelid, the fantastic cellist.

And then the second half is a program that I've come up with that is a bit tied to my obsession with history, and it is a program that basically goes from before World War I to after.

We start with Strauss's Emperor Waltzes, and then we play a piece by the English composer Frederick Septimus Kelly, who was killed during World War I. It's a piece for strings called In Memoriam Rupert Brooke, uh, in memoriam of the poet Rupert Brooke, who, uh, also was killed during the war, and it's a really incredibly touching, beautiful piece.
