And this is a film made in 1981, and I actually ordered a copy, a DVD of it, and I from time to time pop it in and I listen to it.

And, you know, he's describing the theater with Wallace Shawn and Andre Gregory at theater.

And the beginning of the movie is about basically talking about his workshops in a forest in Poland.

And, you know, with all these unknown actors who don't speak English and all these exercises and his own personal spiritual journey.

In the last week or so, I watched my dinner with Andre for the first time.

fascinating movie.

Just the fact that the format is so interesting.

Yeah.

That is the only celebrity I've seen in New York, for the record.

But I thought the movie was really interesting, and I didn't realize that Andre Gregory, who is also John the Baptist in Last Temptation of Christ, very, very different roles.

I thought that was really cool to realize.

Story of my life.

But there was a movie that I rewatched recently, and it feels like it actually dovetails with Surfer Teen Confronts Fear pretty well, where I'm like, this movie, most of it is someone standing there while another person talks about their philosophy of life in the strangest possible – way and they don't get a chance to respond like the surfer never really gets a chance to respond so what is there a good version of this movie where someone is explaining their strange kind of life and philosophy and the other person does get to respond and i realized oh there is a good version of this and i just re-watched it and that's my dinner with andre the from 1981 directed by louis maul starring andre gregory and wallace john as kind of versions of themselves where the This is the movie when I was growing up, it was like this was – if Ishtar was your go-to reference for a bad movie, this was your go-to reference for like boring smart person movie.

And so I put off watching it for a long time.

When I finally watched it, I was old enough to get it.

It's a really fantastic movie.

And it's just two guys having dinner talking about their views on where art and life intersect and their anxieties about those things.

And I remember – Andre Gregory is so poised throughout the movie, even as he's saying bonkers things.

And Wallace Shawn is so like agitated in his performance.

And that's because John early is one of these like play characters who like, uh, actors.

He was in, um, What we did before our Moth Days, which was Andre Gregory's play that was here not that long ago.

I saw it earlier this year and he was good in it.

But he's just like a guy in drag.

Drama

... like Dinner With Andre.

Or a love story.

It's a, it's set at a dinner table.

It's people talking.

So it's got to be-
