Ancient sorceries and other weird stories

The two radio series highlighted tonight are Escape and Quiet Please.

Our first radio play is called Ancient Sorceries.

And this was first broadcasted on February 15th, 1948 on Escape.

Following that is the radio play Is This Murder? And this was first broadcasted on January 16th, 1949 on Quiet Please.

Now...

You all know the drill.

Sit back, turn down the lights, and listen to Ancient Sorceries, followed by Is This Murder?

Fed up with shoveling snow? Can't shake that cold of yours? Want to get away from it all? We offer you escape.

Escape, produced by William N. Robeson and carefully contrived to free you from the four walls of today for a half hour of high adventure.

Today we escape to a remote section of Wales and a strange village between two worlds, as Algernon Blackwood described it in his eerie story, Ancient Sorceries.

I had spent a week's vacation in Wales and was returning to London by train when it all began.

It was late afternoon.

Escape.

Produced by William N. Robeson and directed by Norman MacDonald, today brought you Ancient Sorceries by Algernon Blackwood, adapted for radio by Les Crutchfield, with Paul Frees as Arthur Llewellyn, Kay Brinker as Ilse, Anne Morrison as Madam, and William Conrad as the Doctor.

Music is conceived by Sy Feuer with Eddie Dunstetter at the console.

And you are desired by a beautiful cat girl who wants your soul.

Next week, we escape with Algernon Blackwood's eerie story titled Ancient Sorceries.

This is CBS, the Columbia Broadcasting System.

We leave Cashier Creek with Escape's Snake Doctor.
