And they put forth a stipend, a $5,000 stipend for any teachers that have national board certification, but they did not consider related service providers when they wrote that legislation.

The district says it's exploring online and distance learning opportunities for any K through eight students currently residing in the communities.

An Anchorage School District spokesperson said on Tuesday that about 145 students from Kipnuk and Kwethluk are currently enrolled in Anchorage schools.

So we have a partnership with the school district that we allow the mom to make the decision on what is safest for her kids.

If she feels that it's safe enough for them to remain at their home school, then we coordinate with the Anchorage School District to have specialized transportation to make sure that they can maintain that connection.

And that's best case scenario.

If it is not safe for them to remain at their home school, then we strategize around where is going to be the safest place.

And the Anchorage School District will help facilitate a transfer.
