Amy Wang

'Cause it's too specific.

As for the director of this movie, Amy Wang, I did want to check her personal life to see if it fit the stereotype.

Mm.

And the stereotype is that all of these racial grievance peddlers tend to be married to white guys.

This was a fascinating film, I have to say.

And can I just say how pleased that I was that we actually have a Chinese Australian female director at the helm? This is Amy Wang's very first feature film debut.

I think she won s- some awards with this when it came out this year.

This is the ultimate Asian American passing film.

I found this film just riveting.

One of the, the biggest themes that reverberates through Asian American literature when it comes to stories of girlhood and growing up is, of course, the practice, the politics of internalized racism, internalized oppression, internalized self-hatred, and this is sort of the version of Toni Morrison's bluest eye syndrome writ large as a body horror film.

Uh, I was really moved too, and I listened to some of Amy Wang's interviews, and she said that she was really inspired by that horrific 2021 killing in Atlanta of the six Asian women.

Hmm.
