Yeah.

So one of two ways.

One, people may want to make clear in an agreement that if their relationship ends, that no spousal support will be paid.

And when I am referring to spousal support, I'm referring to either a big lump sum or monthly payments to help ex-spouse pay their bills and meet their needs.

It's not an automatic slam dunk in Canada like child support is.

You usually have to show that you're entitled to it for some reason, whether that's because you stayed home or because you have, uh, a real financial need or a disability of some sort that prevents you from working.

Calling them parties seems so adversarial right off the bat, right?
