And, and Amy, you've, you're definitely a great example of that, I think.

Um, it's, it's, it's become different to balance, like, what you're thinking towards when you're thinking about singles and how to push things and everything else, because it used to really just be radio.

Um, and now I think we've kinda started to have to really, I mean, not have to, get to, broad- broaden the whole idea of like, well, it's not just about a radio hit.

Like, that is an incredible asset, and I th- I think still kinda the hardest thing to get.

[laughs] Um, to get everybody on board with one thing.

Um, but streaming has changed things so much.

the creative aspect of it.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Um, so for me, like, writing that song, having that moment, I, I was going through all those things, and I just sat down at the keyboard and, and that song happened.

[singing] Burning out of control and screaming till we couldn't breathe.

Crawling into your soul was the only way to save me.

But I lost my mind.

That was sort of like this, phew, washing away of whatever last thing was stuck there, the last block.

And once that song was there, then we really began our writing journey for the rest of the album.

Yeah.

Is that even a concern or are you just writing music and just seeing what comes out and that's the record?

Yeah, I know that's part of it, but it doesn't come up till the end.

It's like in the last chapter or maybe second to last chapter, because for me, it always starts out just make stuff, like see what we sound like.

Let's experiment and try.

And you kind of learn what the body of work is as you go.

So, you know, we worked on it over the course of three years.

So as we're building, as a new song enters the chat, you know, you start to build this little spectrum and see, oh, that's what this is, you know, and then the title comes, you know, and then then the first single comes and it all just becomes the package.

Yeah.

Mm-hmm.

We really...

You get a special feeling when it's like you know you struck something, like a new creative force coming through.

And all the music is great, but we definitely hit this point, um, last year when we started, when we, the, for the first time went in, uh, with Zach and Jordan, um, in LA, and it was just me and Troy and Zach and Jordan just for sort of an experimental, "Hey, let's get in there and, I don't know, try to make some songs together, see what happens." And just right away on the very first day it was this, like, y- like, it's just rare in my life.

Yes, I've experienced that kind of thing before, for sure, um, but it's rare.

There's only been, you know, the amount I can count on my hand, somebody that I've met that we instantly just, you get each other and everybody's, you just, it's lightning.

It's just that thing.

Mm-hmm.

Again, like, it's funny, like, I don't plan.

I, I honestly just have to allow it to come.

[laughs] I feel like by the time we got to the end, um, I don't mean that...

And is that really how the evolvement of Evanescence happens from album to album?

Well, yeah.

I mean, it's a combination of a lot of things.

Like you change as you grow and you have new, you know, thoughts about life and also your perspective.

I think perspective has been a really beautiful thing for me as a writer.

I think...

And just in my place, in my self-awareness of whatever we're doing here, I think I'm able to see...

I mean, did this one feel a little different to you? Or it was just, hey, this is the way I'm rolling right

What does that collaboration look like in practice?

Yep.

So it's a little disjointed because, you know, it's, it's... you don't necessarily always recognize hospitals that are like yours, and so it's by happenstance.

For example, I worked in Colorado, so I knew the, the Colorado hospitals that are up in the mountains and c- that kind of thing.

And we have a lot of, of community members that are seasonal, so they are back other places.

They're in Lake Tahoe.

They're in Florida.

So at Nantucket, what is the kind of staffing flow and strategy?
