The Last Gunfight, which was broadcast as Specter of the Gun, which is our first and only third season episode.

We have The Doomsday Machine, Assignment Earth, Mirror Mirror, Friday's Child, and Amok Time.

So the trouble with Tribbles was interesting because all of the scenes that use Chekhov had Sulu instead.

He went down with Uhura and when they're shopping, his interest in botany and plants is brought up.

But yeah, this is as problematic as the episode is.

I think it improves on the script that Blish adapted here a little more faithfully.

So that brings us to our actual last episode, Amok Time, which I did not write anything down about, which probably meant that as I was reading it, I didn't ever have a moment where I said I should write that down.

So there probably weren't any major... that struck me.

And so "Balance of Terror," "A Piece of the Action," "The Menagerie Part One and Two," "Space Seed," "Amok Time," "The Doomsday Machine," "Mirror, Mirror," "City on the Edge of Forever," and "The Trouble with Tribbles" all on the list.

Such episodes from the original series like The Empath, The Civity on the Edge of Forever, Shore Leave, and The Apple developed Kirk and McCoy's shared past, personal grief, and moral philosophies.

Spock's inner life was examined in depth in Journey to Babel, Amok Time, The Devil in the Dark, This Side of Paradise, and The Naked Time, The Galileo 7, and Requiem for Methuselah.

Likewise, McCoy's Southern Heritage, his ex-wife, daughter Joanna, and humanism accumulated specificity across three seasons.

Scotty received personal storylines in The Lights of Zatar and recreational characterization in The Trouble with Tribbles.

A philosophy that celebrates many voices is difficult to reconcile with a history that concentrates creative credit on a single figure.

Dorothy D.C. Fontana provides a clear example of this.

As a story editor and writer, she defined Spock's character and expanded Vulcan culture through seminal scripts such as Journey to Babel and Amok Time.

Archival research confirms her central role in developing Spock's backstory.

so yeah, I just watched a few of those.

And then, um, I watched Arena, but it's like, wait, they've changed the music, or maybe I was thinking of, um, Amok Time.
