Aminah bint Wahb

Abdu Amr grew into that world comfortably.

He was born into wealth and connection, a member of Banu Zuhrah, the very clan from which the prophet's own mother, Aminah bint Wahb, had come.

He was, by every measure Makkah understood, already a man of standing before he ever heard a single verse of revelation.

But something in him was restless.

He freed a great number of the slaves in his household, granting them liberty as one of his final acts of generosity.

He arranged for substantial sums of money to be distributed among those still living who had fought alongside the prophet at the Battle of Badr so many years before, giving four hundred dinars of gold to each surviving veteran of that pivotal battle.

He provided for roughly a hundred servants and ensured that generous portions of his estate reached the mothers of the believers, continuing his lifelong devotion to their care even from his deathbed.

Aisha, remembering his devotion, offered prayers on his behalf, asking that Allah grant him drink from the blessed spring of Salsabil, said to flow within paradise itself.

And such was the environment in which the Prophet Muhammad was born.

We had reached the pregnancy of Amina bint Wahab carrying this noble child, and we talked about how his father had already died while he was still in her womb.

So he was born an orphan, his dad dying before his birth.

Amina bint Wahab carried this blessed pregnancy and she said, Wallahi I did not feel hardship in it, it was all ease.

And while pregnant she saw an astonishing dream.

She retells later, I saw a light shining out of me, filling the land, reaching the Levant.

But in any case, these were the ones named Muhammad around the time of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad himself.

So that was the secret behind his blessed name Muhammad.
