Amherst

Today's case...

The Great Amherst Mystery.

How are you doing today?

Sorry, James.

I got a story for you.

It is the winter.

Amherst, Nova Scotia, 1879.

A man named Walter Hubble is traveling to Amherst.

So today we are talking about, um, got some, uh, a bit of a poltergeist situation.

A famous poltergeist situation in, um, from 1878 to 1879 in, uh, Amherst, Nova Scotia.

It's called the Great Amherst Mystery, and it involved one Heather Cox, who was about 18, uh, when all of this started.

Uh, her mother died when she was three weeks old, and the children went to live, uh, other places.

And in her late teens she started living in a crowded cottage, uh, in Amherst with her sister, uh, her sister's husband, and their two kids, and then her, um, her other sister Jenny, who she shared a bed with, and her brother William.

Uh, and then Daniel's brother John all lived there.

So it was just like, this is how people used to live, by the way.

Yeah.

Shout out to a book that I read for this.

Uh, it is called The Great Amherst Mystery by Walter Hubbell.

As context, it's 180 pages, and this episode is only 20 pages.

So there's a lot that's not being included, but there's a lot-

Plunging them into Esther's body.

It would follow her wherever she went and continue to make death threats and death attempts.

This is the Great Amherst Mystery, a true poltergeist haunting that took place in Nova Scotia in 1878, and is a case that is so heavily documented with hundreds of first-hand witnesses, and at the center of it is an innocent 19-year-old girl named Esther Cox.

This is absolutely insane that we haven't heard of it.
