Ames Community School District

Today, we're joined by Scott Grimes.

Scott's superintendent of the Ames Community School District, and, and joined there in, in 2024 after serving kind of a variety of different levels and different positions, uh, in, in education and leadership.

Uh, throughout his career, he's been passionate about building strong partnerships, expanding opportunities for students, and preparing them for success both in the school and beyond, and that's exactly, Scott, what we're seeing from you in your, in your few years here in Ames.

We're so glad you're here.

I think we have to tell our story.

Uh, we have to take our... and, and think of their- our district as a front porch.

Uh, we want them to see, uh, a great experience and know from our side, from our front porch, uh, when you're looking into our house or you're looking into what we provide, um, that that front porch is, um, set up to, for success, so that people know what's behind that porch, that front door, is a great system, uh, within Ames Community School District.

I think the other piece of it is, is there has been, um, some leadership turnover in a lot of the areas that I'm trying to connect new relationships with.

So that helps minimize the amount of investment and time it's going to take in order to actualize the development.

The other good news is that this is going to be additional housing within the Ames Community School District boundaries.

So that will help provide additional students, hopefully, to the school district.

First reading of the ordinance, that went through.
