American Utopia

It's in my Sight & Sound top 10 of all time, uh, great films.

But it's not that far away from Spike Lee's David Byrne's American Utopia, and yes, I'm counting the full title, David Byrne's American Utopia-

Mm-hmm

... which is why it's here in the D's.

Um, David Byrne's American Utopia is really special.

I will always be envious of you, Will, that you were able to see this live, uh, stage show, but I gotta say the film, um, I, I feel less sad about not seeing it, uh, uh, in the actual legitimate theater.

This is, um, my favorite Spike Lee film of the 21st century, and yes, that includes 25th Hour, which I know a lot of people love, and I like it a lot as well, but this is my favorite film that Spike Lee has done this century, and I think it speaks to something that he has done, uh, really well, and I don't think he gets enough credit for, which is he is a hell of a concert filmmaker.

We talked about Passing Strange, uh, as a reboot.

And which shall be consigned to oblivion like Chris Frantz, Tina Weymouth, and Jerry Harrison's invitation to see their former bandmate David Byrne's Broadway show, American Utopia.

Because we're chuffed or at least curious about the September 11th release of Oasis: Don't Look Back in Anger, a documentary/concert film, ratios TBD, chronicling the 2025 stadium tour that put the longest-strange brothers Gallagher on stage together once more.

I just don't see myself on stage with Liam.
